Oh Canada!

Today President Bush visits our northern neighbor Canada. The Wall Street Journal pointed to a very recent poll by a Canadian group, "Friends of America" which suggests the hyperbole over "America Haters" in Canada is far overblown. Here are some results to the poll which suggests a much different story. Friends of America, a non-profit organization funded by ordinary Canadians who want to strengthen the Canada / U.S. relationship found widespread support for the U.S. among Canadians. The survey, conducted among a representative sample of 1,000 adults across Canada on November 23 and 24, 2004 has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

  • 3/4 of Canadians (71%) cite the U.S. as Canada’s closest friend.
  • 73% also believe that opposing the policies of the President is not the same as being anti-American.
  • Canadians also emphatically agree with the statement, “Deep down, I know that Americans are our closest friends.” Fully two thirds (69%) agree with that statement.
  • Two thirds (67%) of Canadians agree that anti-American statements hinder the two countries from resolving problems of mutual concern.
  • Canadians have an overall favourable attitude toward the United States, with 60% of Canadians indicating “positive” feelings.
  • A full 2/3 of Canadians disagreed with the statement, “It’s cool these days to dislike Americans.”

Overall, Canadians continue to consider Americans their best friends, identifying first and foremost their longstanding and extensive economic and trade relationship but also citing common culture and language as reasons underpinning this friendship. Moreover, not only do most Canadians believe that the people of the two countries have close ties; the majority of Canadians continue to have a favourable impression of the United States as a country.

The Price for Telling the Truth

His name is Steve Gardner. He's also known as "The 10th Brother," as in Band of Brothers. He's one of two members of Sen. John Kerry's 12 Vietnam swift boat crew members who refused to stand with Kerry at the Democratic Convention. Gardner's story is one that bears telling. He volunteered for the Navy, enlisting on his 18th birthday in February 1966. After training, he was shipped to Vietnam and served for two years as a gunner in the swift boat division. His superior, for four months, was none other than Lt. j.g. John F. Kerry. "I had confrontations with him there. He nearly got us rammed by the VC one night because he wasn't watching the helm. I heard the motor coming close, turned on the spotlight, and the boat was only 90 feet away, coming fast. The VC was aiming an AK47 at us. I shot him out of the boat. We pulled a woman and a baby off the boat. Kerry wrote it up that we captured two VC and killed four more on the beach. None of that was true. The only thing true on Kerry's report was the date. The woman was catatonic and wouldn't call her baby VC and there were no VC on the beach. If we had seen that report before Kerry sent it up the chain of command, he would have been court-martialed and never allowed to run for office. And that's just the San Pan incident. There was much more. He is a self-aggrandizing bold-faced liar. I believe he caused the extension of that war." Gardner told this story and others to radio stations and he wrote a piece for the local paper. Then, he says, he received a phone call from John Hurley, the veterans organizer for Kerry's campaign. Hurley, Gardner says, asked him to come out for Kerry. He told Hurley to leave him alone and that he'd never be for Kerry. It was then Gardner says, he was threatened with, "You better watch your step. We can look into your finances." Gardner said he received a call from Douglas Brinkley, the author of Tour of Duty: John Kerry and the Vietnam War. Brinkley told Gardner he was calling only to "fact check" the book -- which was already in print. "I told him that the guy in the book is not the same guy I served with. I told him Kerry was a coward. He would patrol the middle of the river. The canals were dangerous. He wouldn't go there unless he had another boat pushing him." Twenty-four hours later, Gardner got an e-mail from his company, Millennium Information Services, informing him that his services would no longer be necessary. He was laid off in an e-mail -- by the same man who only days before had congratulated him for his exemplary work in a territory which covered North and South Carolina. The e-mail stated that his position was being eliminated. Since then, he's seen the company advertising for his old position. Gardner doesn't have the money to sue to get the job back. Epilogue: "I'm broke. I've been hurt every way I can be hurt. I have no money in the bank but am doing little bits here and there to pay the bills." The husband and father of three says he'd do it all over again. He says it wasn't for politics. It was for America. Juan Williams, NPR Slog At It Again

It seems I have begun a weekly watch on Juan Williams since he appears on the panel of FOXNews Sunday with Chris Wallace. Williams is part of the "fair and balanced" reporting offsetting the conservative views of Brit Hume, William Crystal and Fred Barnes. To round out the four person group a moderate to left person such as Mara Liason (NPR) or Ceci Connelly (Washington Post) attend. This week I got my fill of Mr. Williams and his complete bias idiocy. Williams filled in on the Brit Hume newscast and replaced Mort Kondracke on the "Beltway Boys." At one point on the Beltway Boys he went off on a diatribe not letting Fred Barnes have a word and monopolizing a segment of the show. This is how liberals settle in, they talk over everyone. Barnes had a nice comeback indicating to Williams he is good at practicing the tried and true Liberal tactic in the Senate, "Filibustering." Sunday, in discussion about Dan Rather and his career of left leaning bias Williams once again attempted a weak defense of Rather trying to prove there was never an attempt to attack only Republican office holders such as Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush on Rather's part. Chris Wallace asked Williams to name one Democrat in which Rather was obsessed with during his career. Juan admitted he could not come up with one name. Kudo's to Wallace! Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center and a frequent critic of Mr. Rather, observed: "Mr. Rather's bias is part of an institutional problem throughout the national 'news' media — identified by former longtime CBS News correspondent Bernard Goldberg — which is the arrogant notion that their point of view is always accurate and always relevant to any story in which they choose to inject it." Cal Thomas points out, "' 60 Minutes" curmudgeon, Andy Rooney, has been making a bigger fool of himself lately by calling conservative Christians uneducated and ignorant. When the sports commentator Jimmy "the Greek" Snyder disparaged blacks in 1988, Dan Rather aired video of the remarks, which led to Mr. Snyder being fired by CBS management. That Mr. Rooney holds his job after stereotyping and disparaging Christians sends a message of bias, even bigotry, to a substantial audience CBS has mostly lost and obviously does not care if it wins it back." The Rathers' and Williams' of the far left main stream media are comfortably at home within the corporate havens in which they reside, happily fulfilling the prejudice agenda of the institutional bias which is part of the MSM soul.

Freedom Haters

Muslim extremists are all over the free world using liberties found in countries to espouse their extreme hate for non-Muslims. It is like a viscous gathering storm preparing to roll over anything within it's path, but this is not Mother Nature, this storm must be stopped. Steve Harrigan of FOXNews reports, "With a Koran in one hand and pistol in the other, the British rapper calls for the murder of non-Muslims, including several world leaders, on videotape. Extremists from among Britain's two million Muslims continue to preach violence, veiling the message to take advantage of some of Europe's most liberal freedom-of-speech laws." "We cannot tolerate a crocodile in our bedroom," said Sheik Omar Bakri. "U.S. forces in Muslim countries are crocodiles in our bedrooms. So we are not going to give them ice cream. If we use violence, you will forget the name of your mother and father," he said. If non-Muslims and freedom lovers are crocodiles then violent extremists from the world of Islam are snakes. The head of the snake must be cut off.

Letter of Apology

Author unknown - sentiment shared. For good and ill, the Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue. On the one hand, right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions while on the other hand, political glee will take control and fashion this minor event into some modern day My Lai massacre. I heard some Arabs are asking for an apology. I humbly offer mine here: I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.). I am sorry that no such call for an apology upon the extremists came after 9/11. I am sorry that all of the murderers on 9/11 were Arabs. I am sorry that Arabs have to live in squalor under savage dictatorships. I am sorry that their leaders squander their wealth. I am sorry that their governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools. I am sorry that Yassir Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and hijacked the Palestinian "cause." I am sorry that no other Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of financial help to those same Palestinians. I am sorry that the USA has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the USA. I am sorry that our own left wing elite and our media can't understand any of this. I am sorry the United Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the "food for oil" money so they could get rich while the common folk suffered. I am sorry that some Arab governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their death. I am sorry that those same bombers are seeking 72 virgins. I can't seem to find one here on Earth. I am sorry that the homicide bombers think babies are a legitimate target. I am sorry that our troops died to free more Arabs. I am sorry they show so much restraint when their brothers in arms are killed. I am sorry that Muslim extremists have killed more Arabs than any other group. I am sorry that foreign trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return it to a terrorist state. I am sorry we don't drop a few dozen "Daisy Cutters" on Fallujah. (Note: a "Daisy Cutter" is a 10,000 lb bomb, used to clear helicopter landing zones) I am sorry every time terrorists hide they find a convenient "Holy Site". I am sorry they didn't apologize for driving a jet into the World Trade Center that collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - one of our Holy Sites. I am sorry they didn't apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, etc. I am sorry Michael Moore is American; he could feed a medium sized village in Africa. I am sorry the French are french? America will get past this latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is what we do. We hang out our dirty laundry for all the world to see. We move on. That's one of the reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all those Arab countries that are now demanding an apology. Deep down inside, when most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like - so what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners. Sure, it was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're supposed to wring our hands because a few were humiliated? Our compassion is tempered with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating Fallujans. Definition of a "Tragedy"

John Kerry visits a school classroom. They are in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asks Mr. Kerry if he would like to lead the discussion on the word "Tragedy." So the illustrious Senator (who by the way served in Vietman) asks the class for an example of a tragedy. One little boy stands up and offers: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills him, that would be a 'tragedy'." "No," says Kerry, "that would be an accident." A little girl raises her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a 'tragedy'." "I'm afraid not," explains Mr. Kerry. "That's what we would call a 'great loss'." The room goes into silence. No other children volunteered. Kerry searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a 'tragedy'?" Finally at the back of the room a small boy raises his hand. In a quiet voice, he says: "If your campaign plane, carrying you, Mr. Kerry, were struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a 'tragedy'." "Fantastic!" exclaims Kerry. "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a 'tragedy'?" Declaration of Independence Declared Unconstitutional!

Huh? Is this an episode from Jon Stewart or The Simpsons? No just something cooked up in the California school system. WorldNetDaily is reporting a California case is taking the "separation of church and state" one step further – dealing with whether it's unconstitutional to read the Declaration of Independence in public school. Attorneys for the Alliance Defense Fund filed suit Monday against the Cupertino Union School District for prohibiting a teacher from providing supplemental handouts to students about American history because the historical documents contain some references to God and religion. "Throwing aside all common sense, the district has chosen to censor men such as George Washington and documents like the Declaration of Independence," said ADF Senior Counsel Gary McCaleb. "The district's actions conflict with American beliefs and are completely unconstitutional." Patricia Vidmar, principal of the Stevens Creek School, reportedly ordered the teacher, Stephen Williams, to submit his lesson plans and supplemental handouts to her for advance approval. Aside from Williams, a Christian, no other teachers were subject to the advance-screening requirement. Excerpts deemed unfit were from the Declaration of Independence, the diaries of George Washington and John Adams, the writings of William Penn, and various state constitutions. California's Education Code does allow "references to religion or references to or the use of religious literature … when such references or uses do not constitute instruction in religious principles … and when such references or uses are incidental to or illustrative of matters properly included in the course of study." If the Declaration of Independence is "Unconstitutional" does that make the Constitution of the United States "Unconstitutional" or is this simply California dreamin'? Hopefully Ms. Vidmar will be "Terminated" by the Governator! Oh excuse me, this must process through the courts, which is part of the Constitution.

ACLU's Public Enemy Number One

The issue is the status of Scout troops on military bases. Most troops have institutional sponsors, and the military has traditionally performed this function for troops on bases, especially overseas where other options aren't readily available. The ACLU claims this is religious discrimination because the Boy Scouts require members to believe in God. Ever since the Supreme Court upheld the Scouts' First Amendment right to bar Scoutmasters who are openly gay, the ACLU has looked for softer targets. The suit against the military is one of a series aimed at getting communities to deny access to public facilities. The original lawsuit also challenged the city of Chicago's sponsorship of troops in public schools, another venue where sponsors aren't always easy to find. Chicago caved in and settled. I personally worked as a leader in Cub Scouts for many years with overlapping duties as head of two groups of boys in different age groups and as an assistant Scout Master. Why would I be so active? It is difficult in many areas to receive commitment from adults to take on the responsibility, as well as hard work required to manage young boys, have weekly meetings, attend regional events and plan effective, meaningful activities. Finding a place for weekly meetings isn't always easy because of competing organizations. My weekly meetings were held in a cafeteria at a local public elementary school. The principal was delighted to help out, no one ever complained. Because of years of work from previous private citizens and scout councils around the country scouting has evolved into a treasure available to our youth worldwide. In the many years of my voluntary work I remained committed to following the guidelines in field manuals and attended meetings set up to ensure leaders had resources to follow rules and regulations for the safety of each scout member. Never did anyone force religion on me or require me to force religion upon any member of my groups. GOD and religion are in the scout mission but not at the forefront. Scouts may earn religious medals, which are available for all denominations, which is strictly voluntary. Yes, at the start of each meeting or event the Pledge of Allegiance is said out of respect for our flag and country. The ACLU has it all wrong. They are on a vendetta with a hidden agenda, which serves no purpose in promoting the well being of our youth. By removing scout groups from military bases they are hurting an organization, which develops boys and young men who will have more solid personal foundations because of scouting. Boy Scouts enhances our society and enriches the live of thousands upon thousands of youth who may not have an opportunity to learn basic skills of life and survival. Boy Scouts teaches team play, individual responsibility and esprit de corps. The question no one seems to be asking is, who's better off as a result of these lawsuits? Surely not the 3.2 million Boy Scouts, whose venerable organization is part of the web of voluntary associations once considered the bedrock of American life. If anything, the purpose of the ACLU attacks is to paint Scouts as religious bigots. Other losers are communities themselves, which are forced to sever ties to an organization that helps to build character in young men. It's been 20 years since the ACLU brought its first suit against the Scouts. If there's one thing we've learned by now, it's that the ACLU offensive says more about the degraded status of the civil liberties group than it does about the Boy Scouts.

America Gives Thanks!

Here beginneth the chronicle of those memorable circumstances of the year 1620, as recorded by Nathaniel Morton, keeper of the records of Plymouth Colony, based on the account of William Bradford, sometime governor thereof: So they left that goodly and pleasant city of Leyden, which had been their resting-place for above eleven years, but they knew that they were pilgrims and strangers here below, and looked not much on these things, but lifted up their eyes to Heaven, their dearest country, where God hath prepared for them a city (Heb. XI, 16), and therein quieted their spirits. When they came to Delfs-Haven they found the ship and all things ready, and such of their friends as could not come with them followed after them, and sundry came from Amsterdam to see them shipt, and to take their leaves of them. One night was spent with little sleep with the most, but with friendly entertainment and Christian discourse, and other real expressions of true Christian love. But we can all remind ourselves that the richness of this country was not born in the resources of the earth, though they be plentiful, but in the men that took its measure. For that reminder is everywhere -- in the cities, towns, farms, roads, factories, homes, hospitals, schools that spread everywhere over that wilderness. We can remind ourselves that for all our social discord we yet remain the longest enduring society of free men governing themselves without benefit of kings or dictators. Being so, we are the marvel and the mystery of the world, for that enduring liberty is no less a blessing than the abundance of the earth. And we might remind ourselves also, that if those men setting out from Delftshaven had been daunted by the troubles they saw around them, then we could not this autumn be thankful for a fair land.

Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction

Much to do about WMD's and none were found, at least not in Iraq. However, Reuters is reporting enough arms were found in Fallujah to rule Iraq. Conventional weaponry can do plenty of damage, so the term "WMD" is not necessarily non-existent in Iraq. Destruction is destruction, death is death, and mass graves are certainly massive. Arab militants and insurgents who ruled the volatile city of Fallujah before a U.S.-led offensive this month had enough weapons to take over all of Iraq, Marine officers said on Wednesday. "We found enough weapons in Falluja for the insurgency to take over the whole country," Lieutenant Colonel Dan Wilson told a news conference at a U.S. base near the western city. Iran Is Freezing

VIENNA, Austria - Iran is seeking a last-minute exception to its commitment to stop all uranium enrichment activities by demanding the right to operate around two dozen centrifuges, diplomats said Wednesday. While the number of centrifuges was relatively insignificant, the request casts doubt on Iran's commitment to dispel international suspicions about its nuclear ambitions. Still, Iran has said the halt will be only temporary and insists it has the ultimate right to enrich uranium. It says it is interested only in generating nuclear power, dismissing U.S. assertions that it wants to use the technology to make weapons. School Incident Close To Home

VALPARAISO, Ind. — A student slashed eight schoolmates with a knife Wednesday at Valparaiso High School, inflicting severe cuts, authorities said. The student who committed the attack before class was in custody and the school about 20 miles southeast of Gary had been placed on lockdown, Valparaiso police spokesman Michael Grennes said. He said the attack happened around 8 a.m. in a Spanish classroom. Jeni Bell, a spokeswoman for Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, said the students suffered severe cuts and one suffered a hip injury. But Grennes said the injuries weren't life-threatening. "At this time, we've got a number of students who have been injured," Grennes said. "They've all been transported to the hospital and all the parents have been notified." Grennes declined to release additional details about the attack, including a possible motive, pending a news conference later Wednesday. School employees said no one was immediately available to comment. My boys and I almost lived in Valparaiso, a small bedroom community with a very well thought of school system. We've attended many swim meets there over the years. The press likes to put the locale near Gary but there is no influence or comparison to the two communities. Many people in Valparaiso may work in the mills but quite a large number commute to Chicago. The town is middle to upper middle class and fairly affluent. Source: FOXNews

Dan Rather Stepping Down!

AP is reporting Dan Rather, embattled anchor of the "CBS Evening News," announced Tuesday that he will step down in March, on the 24th anniversary of taking over the job from Walter Cronkite. (What happened to 2 week notice?) The veteran anchor has been under fire in recent months for his role in a "60 Minutes Wednesday" story that questioned President Bush's service in the National Guard, which turned out to be based on allegedly forged documents. Televisions Legal Pundits

I have never watched Court TV nor do I think Greta Van Sustern and her putrid commentary of current court proceedings serves the justice system or people on trial, especially in prominent cases. We should not be deliberating cases on TV and in the public. Today I came upon a discussion about the Peterson trial in California. I have no opinion on the case itself. The commentary was discussing the crowd outside the courthouse on the day Scott Peterson was found guilty of murder. People including children were seen celebrating the verdict. This scene has been replayed and "analyzed" by the pundits ad nauseum. The media clowns don't see anything wrong with individuals, who have not consumed every piece of evidence in a murder trial, standing outside a courthouse with cell phones applauding and cheering the verdict. Did the jury receive congratulations from this mob upon exiting the courthouse? Did the jury see this repeated filming of celebratory foolishness and mob atmosphere on the nightly news? How does this mob mentality play on the minds of jurors who now make a life or death decision on the penalty phase of the Peterson trial? If I was a member of the jury and found Scott Peterson guilty of this heinous crime I would probably vote for execution. However, the right to a fair trial or hearing is utmost in any judicial process no matter our personal feelings. Justice is not being served by media pundits who should put Constitutional rights above TV ratings.

Kofi's U.N. Now Into Sex Abuse

The United Nations is investigating about 150 allegations of sexual abuse by U.N. civilian staff and soldiers in the Congo, some of them recorded on videotape, a senior U.N. official said on Monday. The accusations include pedophilia, rape and prostitution, said Jane Holl Lute, an assistant secretary-general in the peacekeeping department. Unfortunately, the U.N. is attempting to police itself. Mr. Bush Goes To Washington

George Bush has spent four years in Washington D.C. fighting the "establishment" and "status quo" to impose his beliefs and goals of a strong conservative agenda. Too bad for the lobbyists, think tanks, as well as rank and file career politicians Mr. Bush has decided to stick around four more years. As the President sets up a new cabinet and prepares his post-Reagan agenda the political battlefield is being manicured for combat. How many times have we heard appeals to clean up Social Security and the Tax Code. Mr. Bush intends to make good on his promises. The biggest fear in the establishment is filling future Supreme Court vacancies which are sure to lean to the conservative side, thus not appealing to the left leaning D.C. machine. In addition, long overdue changes at the CIA and State Department are welcome. However, the biggest threat to the beltway power structure is the President's foreign policy plans, i.e., spreading Democracy around the world especially in the Middle East. With increased Republican support in the House and Senate, the meltdown at the scandalous United Nations and fretting in France and Germany, President Bush is demonstrating how an outsider accomplishes important matters to sustain American values, liberty and economic strength. George Bush is a man of strong conviction which will enable him success in a second term despite establishment roadblocks. Welcome back Mr. President and Godspeed.

Management 101

Once again I find myself addressing the shear stupidity of Juan Williams, NPR Correspondent and FOXNews Sunday participant. Bottom line...Williams just doesn't get it. This isn't about opinion; it's about accomplishing the goals of the leader. Mr. Williams is so blinded by his partisan prejudice and obvious lack of facts it's impossible for him to understand management skills, delegation of authority and who is in charge. If Williams ran a business it surely would fail within the first year. If Williams managed a team within a corporate structure he would no doubt find insubordination and undermining of his goals. When discussing the President's Cabinet, Williams seems to think dissent among members is OK and aids in the accomplishments of progressive government and reaching goals. No matter if one is hiring employees or, as in government, placing qualified individuals in position of government, cohesiveness and esprit decor are requirements in getting the overall job accomplished. If an employee is undermining the owner, boss, or manager the process fails. Williams is consistent in making a fool of himself each Sunday by misrepresenting facts and demonstrating anti-Conservative, anti-Bush themes whenever possible. Opinion is part of a healthy dialogue, misrepresentation and prejudice demonstrate lack of ability to present a message or portray a thoughtful position.

The post-election infectious disease inflicting the liberals has finally caught up with Bill "Slick Willy" Clinton. John Kerry's Legacy...My Tribute

The election is over, Democrats are now bickering over $15 million dollars left over in the Kerry campaign fund. Yesterday during ceremonies in Arkansas for the Bill Clinton library a camera shot of Kerry standing in the rain holding an umbrella was quite striking. I thought he should have been standing with Al Gore. How appropriate that would have been. I wonder why John Kerry would promote himself as a "war-hero." The real heroes are in Afganistan, Iraq and serving America in the Armed Forces around the world. Who is John Kerry and who the hell does he think he is? John Kerry is a self-serving politician who has married into money twice. John Kerry will say anything, about anyone to promote himself. John Kerry is a willful liar who dwells at the bottom of the swamp like Gollum in "Lord of the Rings." John Kerry's "Precious" is himself. However, the John Kerry legacy is his anti-war protesting, now "seared" in my memory and here is my tribute. Rest in peace John Kerry, the picture below hangs in your "Presidential Library" in the War Remnants Museum (formerly the "War Crimes Museum") in Saigon.

Who Is Clinton Kidding?

"If you look at the 9/11 commission's report about what we did, and how we prepared for, we had the 9/11-style threats for the millennium. And the extent of our preparations, and the work we did, the number of terrorists we brought to justice, the 20 al Qaeda cells we broke up, if you look at all that, and the fact that we apparently came closer to getting bin Laden than anybody has since, even though they have a lot more options — military options — than we had. I wish I had gotten him," stated Bill Clinton at his Presidential library. Clinton failed to make effective use of the many options that were available to him in combating bin Laden and other terrorists, making September 11 much more likely. It has been documented in more than one book James Woolsey, CIA director during Mr. Clinton's first two years in office, was never able to get a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Clinton. Clinton's lack of interest in intelligence matters enabled Sen. Dennis DeConcini, who had developed an intense personal dislike of Mr. Woolsey, to block the hiring of CIA Arabic-language translators. Here is the "short list" of Clinton Administration blunders:

  • Treating the February 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center as a criminal matter rather than the terrorist attack that it really was.
  • Enabled Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, a top bin Laden aide who coordinated the September 11 attacks, to escape capture in Qatar.
  • Clinton administration refused offers by the government of Sudan to turn over bin Laden and objected to efforts by the Northern Alliance — the anti-Taliban coalition in Afghanistan — to assassinate the terrorist leader.
  • Mr. Clinton refused several offers by Sudan to take custody of two terrorists wanted in the August 1998 bombings of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
  • On three occasions in 1999 and 2000, Mr. Clinton deferred or hesitated to launch missile strikes against bin Laden.

As The Washington Times aptly states: "Mr. Clinton's self-serving spin to the contrary, myriad errors of omission and commission by his administration weakened this country's response to the al Qaeda threat and made the horror of September 11 much more likely."

Dutch Treat

The Dutch plan to adopt new laws to give security forces broader arrest powers to combat the growing threat from Islamic radicals. Although falling short of some U.S. measures adopted in the Patriot Act after the Sept. 11 attacks, the Dutch legislation would give authorities some of the most intrusive powers in Europe. The proposals follow the Nov. 2 slaying of filmmaker Theo van Gogh, whose latest movie denounced the treatment of women in Muslim countries. An alleged Islamic extremist has been arrested in the slaying, which has roiled European nations with large Muslim populations. European nations are "roiled" with the arrest of an alledged terrorist? Who are these nations supporting? The Netherlands are known for their extremely liberal social views, however, they have realized protecting liberties means taking broad steps to secure it's citizens. The nations who are presumably roiled by the arrest are unnamed. One can only imagine France and Germany must have voiced their opposition.

Clinton Library In Denial

In his new presidential library that opens today, Bill Clinton defiantly mocks the impeachment proceedings against him, charging that the independent counsel who investigated him had "a bias against the president" and blaming Republicans for engaging in the "politics of personal destruction." The former president, in exhibits he approved, repeatedly castigates Newt Gingrich, accusing him of instructing Republicans to label Democrats as "sick," and asserts that the former House speaker led a cabal of radical right-wing "revolutionaries" bent on destroying Mr. Clinton for one reason: "Because we can." "The impeachment battle was not about the Constitution or the rule of law, but was instead a quest for power that the president's opponents could not win at the ballot box," says one exhibit placard in a library alcove titled "The Fight for Power." A spokesperson for Newt Gingrich states, "Why should anyone expect that a dishonest administration would produce an honest library? It looks like we have the first 'I pity me' presidential library." The Enemy Kofi Annan Wishes To Console

"In the south of Fallujah yesterday, U.S. Marines found the armless, legless body of a blonde woman, her throat slashed and her entrails cut out. Benjamin Finnell, a hospital apprentice with the U.S. Navy Corps, said that she had been dead for a while, but at that location for only a day or two. The woman was wearing a blue dress; her face had been disfigured. It was unclear if the remains were the body of the Irish-born aid worker Margaret Hassan, 59, or of Teresa Borcz, 54, a Pole abducted two weeks ago. Both were married to Iraqis and held Iraqi citizenship; both were kidnapped in Baghdad last month." Kofi Annan and Jacque Chirac should personally meet with the enemy to negotiate and discuss ways to let all people join the political process. Locusts Arrive Late To Cairo

FOXNews has reported the skies above Cairo, Egypt are filled with locusts. Interesting the delay in arrival as Yasser Arafat, the father of modern terrorism, was honored there on Saturday following his death. Exodus 10:4 - 10:6 The Locusts "If you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country. They will cover the land so no one will be able to see the ground. They will eat anything that was left from the hailstorm and the leaves from every growing tree in the field. They will fill your palaces and all your officers' houses, as well as the houses of all Egyptians. There will be more locusts than your fathers or ancestors have ever seen -- more than there have been since people began living in Egypt." The locusts apparantly followed the hailstorm of terrorist condoning diplomats, and world leaders who paid respects to Arafat. Keep posted in the event Darkness follows.

During Campaign 2004 Democrats liked to compare President Bush's job loss record to that of Herbert Hoover. Now Democrats can be proud that they have now aligned themselves to the Hoover Era Senate. Associated Press, announcing the appointment of Harry Reid as new minority leader in the Senate, points out an interesting fact. 'Reid takes over a party with 44 seats in the new Congress, fewer than at any time since the Great Depression.' Irony has a way of rearing it's ugly head!

ACLU Hypocrits Celebrating

In response to a religious discrimination lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, the Defense Department agreed to end direct sponsorship of hundreds of Boy Scout units, which require members to swear religious oaths, on military facilities across the United States and overseas. "If our Constitution's promise of religious liberty is to be a reality, the government should not be administering religious oaths or discriminating based upon religious beliefs," said Adam Schwartz of the ACLU of Illinois. "This agreement removes the Pentagon from direct sponsorship of Scout troops that engage in religious discrimination." The ACLU used to be so committed to free expression that it would even represent Nazis and Klansmen seeking to express their views. Apparently they draw the line at the Boy Scouts.

The Story That Won't Easily Die

Nat Hentoff of the Chicago Sun-Times revisits John Kerry's military record and "fact checks" the John O'Neil "Swift Vets" version. A little told story is Kerry's formal discharge from military service which is purported to have been less than honorable. He discusses MSM's attempt to circumvent O'Neil and ignore obvious mistatements of fact by Kerry himself. ''A former officer in the Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps Reserve has built a case that Senator Kerry was other than honorably discharged from the Navy by 1975. . . . The [subsequent 1978] 'honorable discharge' on the Kerry Web site appears to be a Carter administration substitute for an original action expunged from Mr. Kerry's record,'' writes Thomas Lipscomb in the N.Y. Sun. Hentoff discusses Libscombs careful reporting not common in today's hurried 24/7 cable news climate and compares it to the inaccurate claims and vitriol aimed at O'Neal and his book "Unfit For Command." Mr. Hentoff concludes, "I respect O'Neill for his courage and his public service for having enabled many Americans to look much more closely as John Kerry's presidential qualifications. And, indeed, the Swift Boat Veterans did a lot to keep Kerry from the Oval Office."

For over more than a decade, Saddam Hussein's government raised more than $21.3 billion in illegal revenue by subverting U.N. sanctions against Iraq including the humanitarian oil-for-food program, congressional investigators estimated Monday. Here's the ledger so far: (some rounding involved)

  • $3.9 billion from oil smuggling before the oil-for-food program
  • $9.7 billion from oil smuggling during the oil-for-food program
  • $4.4 billion in kickbacks on humanitarian goods contracts
  • $241 million in illegal surcharges on oil sales
  • $2.1 billion from accepting substandard goods and paying inflated prices
  • $403 million from overseas investment of illicit income

Pay Our Troops NOW!

When it comes to pay raises would anyone argue the military and troops in combat are the most deserving of a pay increase? Hardly! Politicians seem to have a different view and some are on the record stating their position. In addition, union thugs believe federal civilian employees deserve similar treatment as combat military personnel. The Wall Street Journal reports Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union, says that ending pay parity would send to federal employees the message "that their work is . . . not as valued, and not as vital as that of . . . military counterparts." It's obvious Ms. Kelley's skewed view is without conscience. Tom Davis (R., Va.), who represents suburbs of D.C. that many federal workers call home, states that "both civilian and military employees are the government's greatest asset." House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D., Md.), with a similar constituency, asserts that "Congress and the White House should not undermine the morale of dedicated federal public servants by failing to bring their pay adjustments in line with military personnel." Who are these politicians kidding? The difference of doing your job and placing your life on the line is obvious and these "public servants" should have that message shoved down their throats. Over the last four years, pay raises for federal civilians have been double the Consumer Price Index's cost-of-living increase. Federal workers also get the day off with pay on 11 federal holidays, more paid time off than most private-sector jobs provide. And, of course, American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan don't get any holidays from being in harm's way. The Bush administration has argued that a special raise is in order for the armed services. The administration's budget for fiscal year 2005 provides for across-the-board pay increases of 3.5% for military employees and a smaller raise for federal civilian workers. Let's Get Real

Upon the death of Yasser Arafat we find many condolences of terror: “With him disappears the man of courage and conviction who, for 40 years, has embodied the Palestinians’ combat for recognition of their national rights,” said French President Jacques Chirac. “Arafat provided indispensable leadership to a revolutionary movement and was instrumental in forging a peace agreement with Israel in 1993,” proclaims Jimmy Carter. "Yasser Arafat was one of the outstanding freedom fighters of this generation, one who gave his entire life to the cause of the Palestinian people. We honor his memory today," said Nelson Mandela. "For nearly four decades, he expressed and symbolized in his person the national aspirations of the Palestinian people. President Arafat will always be remembered for having, in 1988, led the Palestinians to accept the principle of peaceful coexistence between Israel and a future Palestinian state," Kofi Annan eulogized. However, The Manchester Union Leader correctly stated, Future historians, their view unclouded by contemporary politics, will rank Yasser Arafat in the same column as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Chairman Mao, and Pol Pot. They will record for posterity his deliberate misdeeds that today remain shrouded by political passions, and they will note those who assisted, covered up and apologized for Arafat’s only accomplishment: the delivery of misery to millions.

Hey Kofi...Do You Have A Problem With This?

Today's Washington Times reports Marines have discovered bomb making factories, be-heading chambers, and a mutilated female body in Fallujah. Kofi Annan, world embezzler and noted anti-U.S., anti-War activist believes U.S. involvement in Iraq, and most recently in Fallujah is unwarranted. Marines yesterday showed off what they called a bomb-making factory, where insurgents prepared roadside explosives and car bombs that have killed hundreds of Iraqi civilians and U.S. troops. "It's all significant because this is not the kind of stuff an average household has," said Lt. Kevin Kimner, 25, of Cincinnati, assigned to the Third Battalion, Fifth Marines. "This is better than Radio Shack." U.S. Marines said they also found the disemboweled body of a woman thought to be a Westerner wrapped in a blood-soaked blanket and lying in a street during a sweep for terrorist holdouts in central Fallujah. As Congressional hearings begin today concerning the U.N. "Oil-For-Food" program we can only hope Mr. Annan would quit stonewalling and begin to cooperate with investigators. Robert Novak reports in the Chicago Sun-Times, This week's hearings will show that ''the scope of the ripoff'' at the U.N. is substantially more than the widely reported $10 billion to $11 billion in graft. But more than money is involved. These hearings also should expose the arrogance of the secretary-general and his bureaucracy. At the same time that he has refused to honor the Senate committee's request for documents, Annan has inveighed against the Fallujah offensive sanctioned by the new Iraqi government while ignoring the terrorism of insurgents. This is an unprecedented showdown between a branch of the U.S. government and the U.N. It's unfortunate diplomatic immunity protects Annan from a criminal indictment. He and Mr. Sevan (living the good life in Cyprus) certainly rank right up there with Saddam Hussein and Yasser Arafat in support of terrorism and money laundering.

John Ashcroft Served Us All...Thank You!

The media wants us to believe it's time to bid Mr. Ashcroft, "Good Riddance" because they immediately had an ax to grind with a person who has strong religious convictions. The fact is, on Ashcroft's watch America was free of further terrorist attacks after 9/11 and hundreds of terrorists were detained, convicted and provided valuable information which twarted further terrorist activities on our homeland. In addition, Mr. Ashcroft prosecuted many corporate thugs who ran unethical companies and cost employees millions in savings and retirement funds. In short, John Ashcroft provided leadership in cleaning up the corporate scandals of the nineties and sent a strong "no tolerance" message to the boardrooms of America. The lasting legacy of Attorney General Ashcroft should be the aggressive stance he took on prosecuting terrorists whose primary goal is killing Americans. Three months after the 9/11 attacks Mr. Ashcrofts stated: ''To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists, for they erode our national unity and diminish our resolve.'' Main-Stream Media would like us to bid "Good Riddance" to John Ashcroft, America should say, "Thank You, Mr. Ashcroft, We Appreciate Your Service!"

Enjoying Your Freedom? Thank A Veteran!

On May 13, 1938, an act of Congress established Nov. 11 as a legal holiday to be known as Armistice Day. Subsequently, on June 1, 1954, following tremendous American sacrifices in World War II and Korea, the 1938 act was amended by replacing "Armistice" with "Veterans." Terry Thomas, a former U.S. Marine Corps major and combat veteran of the war in Iraq eloquently writes in the Seattle Times: "The American military veteran is a human treasure of incomparable sorts. Drawn from the vast and diverse well of American life, these seemingly average youths demonstrated the strength, will and tenacity to earn the right to proudly wear the uniform of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine, as well as that of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Public Health Service. On their journey to adulthood, they sacrificed the creature comforts of home, risked life and limb, and sharpened, hardened and tested themselves beyond measure in both peace and war. They collectively protected and ensured the daily freedoms we often take for granted and made their countrymen proud by their efforts." Veteran's Day should be properly recognized beyond no mail service, government buildings shut down or a day off of work. Look back and look to the present where our brave men and women sacrifice for peace, liberty, freedom and democracy. Please thank a Veteran for their service and support our troops on active duty, it is well deserved. . Arafat Is Dead.........Terrorists Weep

The Boston Globe's Jeff Jacoby explains quite well why Yasser Arafat was no head of state but a terrorist murderer and asks why no one is remembering his victims. Arafat is a man who:

  • Brought modern terrorism to the world.
  • Who sent his agents to slaughter athletes at the Olympics.
  • Who sent agents to blow airliners out of the sky, bomb schools and pizzerias, machine-gun passengers in airline terminals.
  • Who lied, cheated, and stole without compunction.
  • Who inculcated the vilest culture of Jew-hatred since the Third Reich.

Mr. Jacoby writes, "On one black date in May 1974, three PLO terrorists slipped from Lebanon into the northern Israeli town of Ma'alot. They murdered two parents and a child whom they found at home, then seized a local school, taking more than 100 boys and girls hostage and threatening to kill them unless a number of imprisoned terrorists were released. When Israeli troops attempted a rescue, the terrorists exploded hand grenades and opened fire on the students. By the time the horror ended, 25 people were dead; 21 of them were children."

Here are the names of the dead school children at Ma'alot. Let us not forget.

It would take an encyclopedia to catalog all of the evil Arafat committed. While the world pays it's respect to a murderer I will say a prayer for Arafat's victims.

Tolerant Liberals

On BillMaher.com, the Web site of the HBO talk-show host, a reader called "moulty" has posted a message to the discussion board under the title "Shooting Republicans, ethical? Discuss" (quoting verbatim):

At this point in time, would it be morally defensible to apply a "final solution" to republicans?

Let's face it, when Grover Norquist is doing the media rounds...when his agenda of eliminating all taxes on billionaires and letting the poor pay all taxes and carry the debt burdon, and let them scounge around in the garbage for food...builds character.....when THIS type of criminal extreme right wing "thought" is entering the mainstream...it's time for extreme action.

GW Bush and the American right wing Taliban are endangering the entire planet. If the rest of the world had a say, Bush and Cheney would be in jail.

Is it now morally excusable to organize midnight raids on republican groups in the red states and "terminate" them with extreme prejudice?

Watching Bush's acceptance speech on wednesday, with the Cheney's on stage as well....who would not have liked to see a bomb go off under the stage and wipe out the whole despicable slimy lot of them? And hopefully the shrapnel would have gone to the second deck and blown Mary Matalin's head off as well.

Be honest. Who would not like to see Karen Hughes run over by an 18 wheel truck? Who wouldn't like to see her carcass scattered all over highway 99?

Nice people worried about conservatives using their free speech. They seem to have forgotten "Liberal" tolerance. Go Figure.

Kofi Annan....Supporter of Terrorism

Interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi has replied to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan's letter objecting to coalition efforts in Fallujah. Mr. Annan had warned last week that a coalition offensive might increase violence and disrupt the elections. Mr. Allawi writes: "At the moment, we have parts of the country in which the civilian population has been hijacked by the terrorists and insurgents. That is unacceptable. Worse still is that the terrorists and insurgents operating from places like Fallujah are exporting their violence to other parts of the country, terrorizing and killing innocent Iraqis and those seeking to protect them. I cannot allow these terrorists to continue to murder with impunity." "I was a little surprised by the lack of any mention in your letter of the atrocities which these groups have committed. I believe that the blame for the violence and difficulties in Iraq at the moment should be laid squarely at their door. The same group who murdered so many of your staff in the bombing of the U.N. headquarters last year, has since murdered hundreds of innocent Iraqis and committed countless other atrocities. We have overwhelming evidence that they have used and continue to use Fallujah as a base of operations." The Wall Street Journal writes: "Given Mr. Annan's record of supporting Saddam Hussein, failing to stop the corrupt Oil for Food program, and appeasing terrorists in Iraq, how could anyone still be "a little surprised?" Things are moving dangerously fast in Iraq. A fresh FOXNews headline: Iraqi PM's Family Members Abducted "Two members of the Iraqi prime minister's family were abducted from their Baghdad home, his spokesman said Wednesday, and militants said they would be beheaded in two days if their demands are not met." Still have doubts Mr. Annan?

Why Secede? Just Leave!

Lawrence O'Donnell, a veteran Democratic insider and general ignoramous suggests "Ninety percent of the red states are welfare-client states of the federal government." Another Democratic thug states, "The segment of the country that pays for the federal government is now being governed by the people who don't pay for the federal government." Mr. O'Donnell said the red states that went to Mr. Bush "collect more from the federal government than they send in. New York and California, Connecticut — the states that are blue are all the states that are paying for the bulk of everything this government does, from ... Social Security to everything else, and the people in those states don't like what this government is doing." Brit Hume of FOX News showed one popular map circulating on the Internet depicting the 19 blue states won by Sen. John Kerry — Washington, Oregon, California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland and the Northeastern states — conjoined with Canada to form the "United States of Canada." The 31 red states carried by Mr. Bush are depicted as a separate nation dubbed "Jesusland." According to the Washington Times, the Internet has exploded with talk of a blue-state confederacy, including one screed circulating by e-mail that features a map of a new country called "American Coastopia" and proposes lopping off the Northeast, the West Coast and the upper Midwest to form a new country, away from the "rednecks in Oklahoma" and the "homophobic knuckle-draggers in Wyoming." With all the whining going on from the left it was pointed out at RedState after the election in 2000, "the places of greatest Democrat strength are places of major dysfunction and social pathology -- higher illiteracy rates, higher crime, higher drug use, higher illegitimacy, higher unemployment. "Red America" is made up of producers; "Blue America" is predominantly made up of users (of government services). Rather than stand for policies that will enhance the health of society, the Democrats apparently believe that their path to success rests in dumbing America down more, making more Americans dependent upon government programs, and increasing social misery and hopelessness. The Democrats are the party of despair. While their support is isolated in pools of "blue," those pools of blue are increasingly becoming social and cultural hell-holes." That pretty much sums it up in post election 2004 as well.
