Tax Filing Deadline and Much More!!!

With April 15th quickly upon us remember, filing your tax return is not the only thing to consider this time of year. According to the Tax Foundation, April 17th is declared "Freedom Day." In 2005, Americans will work 70 days to afford their federal taxes and 37 more days to afford state and local taxes. As economic growth pushes people into higher tax brackets, tax collections grow faster than incomes. In 2005, as a nation, we're paying 29.1% of our income, which amounts to working for the government from January 1 through April 17th. This calculation does not consider payroll tax, also known as, robbing your paycheck to pay for someone else's retirement. As the history channel celebrates FDR this week the Attic can only ask this when considering the poor planning of Social Security. FDR, what the hell were you thinking?
