Newsweek's Credibility In Toilet!

Newsweek magazine has done more to destroy any goodwill the Bush Administration, our troops and millions of private American citizens have done in Muslim countries around the world than any terrorist organization. No matter if it's the fight against terrorism, freeing enslaved countries from tyranny, or donating time and money to Tsunami victims, whatever good was realized from these efforts, Newsweek magazines inept reporting has caused violent protests against America. An apology is not enough and the editors at Newsweek should be fired immediately, including any reporters and staff involved with the report a Koran was flushed down a toilet at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba by interrogators. "We regret that we got any part of our story wrong, and extend our sympathies to victims of the violence and to the U.S. soldiers caught in its midst," Newsweek Editor Mark Whitaker wrote in the apology. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the original story was "demonstrably false" and "irresponsible," and "had significant consequences that reverberated throughout Muslim communities around the world." "Newsweek hid behind anonymous sources, which by their own admission do not withstand scrutiny," Whitman said. "Unfortunately, they cannot retract the damage they have done to this nation or those that were viciously attacked by those false allegations." In the Attic's opinion this is simply more liberal reporting in an attempt to "get" the Bush Administration. This weak and biased effort has resulted in anti-American sentiments around the world. How does Newsweek fix this? They can't! Heads should roll at Newsweek and roll fast. What laws does the press have to protect itself from a criminal indictment for bogus reporting that has cost lives and endangered every American citizen? At the very least writers Michael Isikoff and John Barry as well as Editor Mark Whitaker should be ousted and face a thorough investigation by the Criminal Justice department.
