An Old Message for Current Senators

"We were not strong enough to drive out a half-million American troops, but that wasn't our aim. Our intention was to break the will of the American government to continue the war."
This quote is from North Vietnamese General Vo Nguyen Giap in a 1990 interview. While Democrats continue to accuse President Bush of "misconduct" in his decision to go to war in Iraq, the U.S. military is still fighting because al Qaeda is entertaining their war of terrorism in that country, as well as Jordan, Afghanistan, Indonesia and other parts of the world. xxx Democrat's have very short memories and forget how they voted, authorizing removal of Saddam Hussein and denouncing terrorism. They enjoy using the word "quagmire" a term found when discussing the Vietnam War where short memories are also found. Democrat's forgot who took us into Vietnam with 500,000 ground troops, they enjoy blaming Nixon for their part in that conflict. xxx When politicians promote sending U.S. troops into harms way and decide to back track for political reasons this becomes almost treasonous, sending the wrong message to our soldiers all over the world. Politicians who use their past service records and awards to politicize the battle on terrorism serve no purpose other than calling for a retreat and demoralizing our troops and telling our country we're not unified on the global fight against terrorism.
In the end Republicans in the Senate such as John Warner and Bill Frist are interfering with the conduct of the war by participating in any kind of rhetoric with their "modified" stance by passing a resolution warning Iraqis they must take over the fight. While Iraqis are being trained daily, their citizens are taking the brunt of the terrorist fight within their mosques, on their streets and around their markets, which are targets of terror.
Voting for Senate resolutions on how to conduct a war is irresponsible and interferes with the real experts who are on the ground doing the dirty work, following the commanders orders who have the current expertise and birds eye view on how to execute military missions and training. While Iraqi leaders are being assassinated for standing up for democracy the recent resolution does nothing more then aid and abet the enemy because our democratically elected leaders have lost their backbone and resolve.
The Wall Street Journal points out, "that among the papers discovered along with Saddam two years ago was one saying that the Baathists-turned-terrorists will know they are winning when a candidate for President of the United States calls for withdrawal from Iraq. Saddam and Zarqawi know the real lessons of Vietnam, even if too many Members of Congress do not."
