Attic Quote of The Day!

"Sosa is an Oriole now, and he apparently is one of the first victims of an avian flu strain that affects memory. European Protestors...Lacking Historical Perspective

A Tribute
The U.S. Constitution allows and respects free speech and the right to protest. Our rights should be respected and cherished. Many times we see protests as foolish, even embarrassing. However, protests are a part of the fabric of our society. As President Bush visits Europe this weekend there will be protests throughout the streets with signs depicting death, destruction, American "Imperialism", even signs telling our President he is "Unwelcome." Yes, I saw this greeting and it sickened me. Apparantly history is forgotten in Europe as it's people and leaders look at American's as rich, arrogant and pompous. These people who would follow a jack ass over the edge of a cliff, with a history of following Hitler and ignoring death camps, lack intestinal fortitude. Europeans are generally ignorant of anything American beyond New York City. They are ignorant of our small towns, our farming communities, the simple and modest lives that make up an enormous portion of our society and economy. Most of all, Europeans are simply ignorant. The Europeans were saved from complete destruction primarily by U.S. Service men. When the numbers are studied it was American blood, American life, American service that liberated Europe. In the Battle of The Bulge alone 600,000 Nazi's were met by 55,000 Brits and a whopping 500,000 U.S. Servicemen. Without the involvement of the United States, Europe would not have survived. My family had one personal loss during WWII which hurt many people for years to come. This loss is extrapolated by the thousands upon thousands of families who lost loved one's in defense of American principles and support of our allies abroad. One death, an Uncle I never met. My only connection to this brave soul were hickory shaft golf clubs and a few pictures of a skinny infantryman destined to death and a foreign burial. A young man who would never experience life beyond age 21, would never return home to Gary, Indiana, would never set foot on American soil in life or death. Now the ungrateful Europeans protest America and our President who has lead the liberation of millions more, freeing the oppressed, which is the American legacy. When these Europeans tell our President he is unwelcome, they are telling the American people they are unwelcome. To Europe and the freedom loving world, thank America for we have the unselfish courage you lack in preserving our freedom and providing it for so many others around the world. Our generosity goes well beyond the millions of dollars spent for victims of hatred and violence, it is spent in blood, the blood left in foreign soils so freedom and liberty may ring beyond our shores. Following is my tribute to a fallen hero, someone Europeans should thank by respecting America and our President. God Bless America, God Bless Our Troops. While you protest in Belgium and throughout Europe, take a trip and pay tribute to the fallen heroes. Forwarding this tribute by email is appreciated.

Clinton, Kerry Propose Voting "Holiday"

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a possible White House candidate in 2008, joined 2004 nominee John Kerry and other Democrats Thursday in urging that Election Day be made a federal holiday to encourage voting. Clinton also pushed for legislation that would allow all ex-felons to vote. In addition, Democrats led by the "Dynamic Duo" alleged voting irregularites during the 2004 Presidential Elections. Based on history as the Attic has written about previously the Democrats have difficulty differentiating between machine malfunctions and dead people voting as irregularities. I suppose Democrats feel felons would increase voting for Democrats and having a "Holiday" would allow them to keep polling places open longer and allow more dead people to vote, along with paid homeless people and others who are personally escorted for freebies and booze to enhance the Democrats "popular" vote. They claim no allegations about the 2004 election are being made yet Dem's can't stop whining about 2002 and making suggestions the Ohio vote was somehow rigged. Kerry has spent most of his post election time attempting to convince anyone who will listen he actually won the election right before he lost it. Following the Chicago Democratic Machine line as the first Mayor Daley would announce, "Don't forget to vote, and vote often." This continues to be the Democratic Partiy mantra.

Jacko and Jack Asses

While packing some merchandise I have FoxNews on and it's simply unbelievable how much time they spend discussing Michael Jackson, old tape of him peeking his hand in front of a hospital window and speculating about nothing. I am not sure why stations are so enamored with Jacko but spending this much time rerunning tape of the same crap of useless reporters camping out does not bode well for a trial that has yet to happen. Personally, who cares anyway, this isn't news by any journalistic standard. They would say this is what the viewing public wants to see. Then go to E! Of course with goofs like Shepard Smith, Rita Cosby, Geraldo and assorted "anchors" these bobos need something to talk about. Jacko and the News Jack Asses! Stay Tuned.

Attic Knave of The Day!

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, who lost to President Bush in an election focused on national security, said Tuesday the country would be "far better off" with his proposals for Iraq and the military. "I think my security proposals for the country were smack on, dead on," Kerry said. "I think that had they started to do the things I proposed on Iraq when I proposed them, we would be far better off today. And they are, in fact, now trying to do some of the things that I proposed." Was this proposal before or after he voted NO to support the troops with $84 million for equipment?

"Americans accepted that I could be the commander in chief," Kerry said. "What they were unwilling to do was shift commanders in midstream." However, Kerry's Swift Boat crew was more than willing to support shifting commanders midstream, including throwing him overboard.

Does Mr. Kerry have a drug addiction which makes him delusional? Is this the reason Theresa no long carries his last name? Seems the mandate and majority still don't add up for the former Swift Boat Veteran and war protester.

Mr. Kerry also served in Vietnam, afterwards serving to promote the welfare of North Vietnam's Communist Regime. 10 out of 10 Terrorists prefer Heinz Ketchup!

Hope Reigns Eternal

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....Being a Chicago Cubs fan. The smell of Spring and Spring Training in the air. The Las Vegas odds-makers picking the Cubs as favorites in the National League. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....Sweet Dreams. For that reality check comes a quote from Chicago author, Nelson Algren who once wrote,

Attic Quote of The Day!

The Cubs' self-destructive ending left a bad taste in many players' mouths and that feeling could be the impetus for a big season ahead. "I still probably haven't gotten over that final week. Mainly because you feel you let a lot of people down. I play this sport partly for my family, to make money for my family, but mostly for the fans. In Chicago, if you feel like you let people down, it's a tough thing to swallow. So I don't think I've let that go yet. I think that's good motivation going into spring training."

My Response To A Sammy Sosa Fan

Today Rick Morrissey of the Chicago Tribune responds to a "Cub Fan" who is mourning the "loss" of Sammy Sosa, recently traded to the Baltimore Orioles. The poor fellow is experiencing an emotional death and much of it can be read in Rick's column here. My response follows: Rick: The Sosa fan must have had too much "Kool-Aid". I have been a Cub fan since 1955 so this fellow really can't feel my pain. He didn't sit through 1969 and then the 1970's. He wasn't at Wrigley Field on a cloudy day with an almost empty stadium when Ernie Banks, the real Mr. Cub, hit # 500 like a rope into the front row of left field stands. He can't remember the yellow hard hats of the original bleacher bumbs cheering on my "Boys of Summer." He can't remember Ron Santo clicking his heels running down the left field line or taking a "shot" off of his chest at third base. He can't remember an "over-played" Cubs team managed by Leo "The Lip" Durocher dragging in the waning days of Summer 69, or the black cat of Shea Stadium, or the big flop of 1984 in San Diego. These are only a few examples. He can't remember the "College of Coaches" or hearing the baseball meeting the bat and an echo and thump of the sound it makes in an empty Wrigley Field. Ohhhhhhhhh, there is so, so much beyond anything Sammy Sosa. The 1990's up into the past season holds a huge asterik to all records for hitting and pitching in my opinion. There is enhancement abuse and record setting denial in current baseball. This young fellow has no other hero to worship other than the tainted athlete who cheats for success. Imagine how good, how talented the players of old must have been, traveling by train and bus, hung over beyond anything Kyle Farnsworth could imagine and still hitting home runs and going 4-4 on hot sunny days. He never witnessed Jenkins vs. Gibson on a steamy Sunday in St. Louis. He never witnessed "Sweet Swinging" Billy Williams hitting basesballs or no-hitters by Ken Holtzman or 20 game seasons of Ferguson Jenkins. This poor fellow only understands modern baseball, his generation of "Me" players and massive egos. He could never understand the pressure of performing while under the microscope and death threats experienced by Roger Maris and Henry Aaron. Or the pressure of playing in front of hateful racists and having your talent diminished by raving prejudice. I had an "office" on floor 55 of Lake Point Tower. I noticed the bulking up of Sammy Sosa. I experienced his massive ego in the lobby on 55 and in the elevator. Sammy was for Sammy. I, Charter Die-Hard Cubs Fan, am for the blue pinstripes of the Chicago National League Baseball Franchise. With players changing uniforms for salary increases faster than they change performing enhancement drugs it doesn't come down to one player or even 25. It comes down to rooting for the uniform, the one constant in my lifetime as a Cub fan. Best Wishes, Don

Former Priest About To Get His

Defrocked priest Paul Shanley, a central figure in the Boston Archdiocese clergy sex abuse scandal, was sentenced Tuesday to 12 to 15 years in prison for raping a boy repeatedly in the 1980s, sometimes in a church confessional. I mentioned in an earlier post this sicko was a member of NAMBLA, North American Man/Boy Love Association. Today a sting operation netted 7 "men" with allegedly planning to travel to Mexico to have sex with boys. An eighth man was charged with distributing child pornography. Here is a list of names with some occupations of these people which will make you wonder who is living next door, teaching at your schools or leading your church. Jeff Devore, 53, of Fullerton was arrested Saturday and charged with distributing child pornography as a result of the sting, Eimiller said. Devore, a minister at the Brea Congregational Church in Orange County, was not accused of planning to go on the Mexico trip. Devore, is also a chiropractor. The seven arrested included:

  • Sam Lindblad, 56, of Albuquerque, N.M.;
  • Gregory Mark Nusca, 43, of Dania Beach, Fla., also known as David R. Busby or Steven West;
  • Steven K. Irvin, 46, of Pittsburgh, a special education teacher at Carrick High School;
  • Richard Stutsman, 59, of Seneca, S.C., a substitute teacher for a school district in Oconee County;
  • Phillip Todd Calvin, 43, of Dallas;
  • David Cory Mayer, 49, of Chicago, a flight attendant;
  • Paul Ernest Zipszer, 39, of Deltona, Fla.
Have no fear Shanley, Bubba and the boys are anxiously awaiting to meet you. Hopefully more of your "good ole boys" will be joining you in the coming months.

France Obstructing Peace, Promoting Terrorist Killing

With French resistance, backed by Spain and Belgium, there seems little chance that the EU will put Iran-backed and Lebanese-based Hezbollah on its terrorist blacklist. That move would ban the group from Europe, making it illegal to raise money there. The French, who hold a veto on such matters, cite Hezbollah's status as a political party in Lebanon to justify opposition to any EU sanctions against Hezbollah. This is a "complex question," French President Jacques Chirac told Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom yesterday in Paris. It has recently been reported Hezbollah has offered up to $100,000 for suidcide bombers and threatened to kill Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. France and Jacques Chirac oppose anything endorsed by America no matter what the price, including saving innocent lives and promoting Middle East peace. What is so complex about this?

This Bud's For YOU....Oops!

Isac Aguero, 24, said he was fired from his job with a Miller Brewing distributor, the same day a picture appeared in The Journal Times of Racine of him drinking a Bud Light, which is brewed by Anheuser-Busch Co. Aguero, who had been a forklift operator at CJW Inc. for four years, told the newspaper he was informed by co-workers when he arrived at work Monday that he was in trouble because of the picture. He said he was called into the general manager's office and told he was fired. Aguero said he was not given a reason and claimed he never had problems with his bosses. "It was a Saturday and I wasn't at work," he told The Journal Times. "They can't tell me what beverages I can drink. Bud Light's my beer of choice, I always drink that. Just because I work there, do I have to change what I drink?" Source: FoxNews

As John Ashcroft departs as U.S. Attorney General I say thank you. This gentlemen has been a lighting rod for criticism from the misguided left. Dem's In Deanial!

Quite difficult to keep from spilling my coffee as I watch the Dem-Spin-Meister's defending Howard "Ballistic" Dean as the new face of the Democratic Party. All the former losers, quite a list I might add, on every talk show segment explaining how Dean is not an "elected" official, his job is to only raise money. BUNK! Dean is a power monger, period! The former Vermont Governor is as left as any Socialist can be, he is anti-defense, and uses the word "HATE" to desribe his feelings for the opposition. Dean is credited with "Balancing" the Vermont budget. So is Clinton but you hear little how Al Gore helped accomplish this by turning our military on it's ear. 285,000 "government" jobs eliminated, however, these were from the military exclusively! Soldiers On Food Stamps was the Clinton Oil For Food Program. Now the pundits are telling us how Hillary is moving to the center. Yeah and I am the tooth fairy. Ringling Bros. has been replaced by the DNC, this is one circus missing the elephants. Stayed tuned.

Germany Forgets...The World Should Not!

Neo-Nazis in Germany spent the weekend protesting American and British bombing of Dresden during World War II comparing it to a "Holocaust." The German National Democratic Party has caused widespread consternation with its heightened public presence and rhetoric in recent months. Its state leaders in Saxony caused an uproar last month by appearing to compare the bombing of Dresden with the Holocaust. The party's national leader expressed admiration for Hitler in a weekend newspaper interview. "Only a great leader can commit great crimes," Udo Voigt was quoted as telling the Die Welt daily. "Of course Hitler achieved great things. He got rid of unemployment within a few years." He denied that his party models itself on the Nazis. Voight is talking out of both sides of his pathetic Nazi mouth!

Attic Quote for The Weekend!

"The success of the trade does not depend on how Sosa plays for the Orioles this season. If he hits 50 home runs, it will not mean the Cubs made a mistake. The success of the trade will be that it was made. The success of the trade will not be gauged by whom the Cubs get in return for Sosa. They could get the next Mickey Mantle or the next Mickey Rooney, and it won't matter. The success of the trade will be that it was made. Doesn't matter if the Cubs finish a game out of the playoffs. Doesn't matter if they miss the playoffs because of a lack of power. Moving Sosa is the right thing now and forever. He walked out on his teammates. End of story."

Four Reasons Plus Two Cubs Are Better!

A Chicago sports writer, Rick Morrissey, seems to agree with my assessment of off-season Cub trades. Some agreeable quotes. On Sammy Sosa: "It seems that when it was time for Sosa to take his physical for the Orioles last week, a team employee arrived in a personal vehicle to transport Sosa to the facility. Sosa didn't offer a heart tap or even blow a kiss. He wagged a disapproving index finger. He said he doesn't do personal vehicles. He would require a limousine. The limo arrived about an hour later, delaying the physical and the ensuing news conference.Sun columnist Peter Schmuck referred to it as an apparent 'diva moment' by Sosa. Some of us here in Chicago would refer to it as bigness as usual for His Samminess.It was the essence of Sosa, a player who cares about himself so much that he walked out on his team at the end of last season." On Kent Mercker: "This was a team with a reliever (Mercker) who found time during a game to call the press box to complain about the TV broadcasters." On Moises Alou: "This was a team with a left fielder (Alou) who was preoccupied with the TV broadcasters and the umpires." On Kyle Farnsworth: "This was a team with another reliever (Farnsworth) who hurt his knee when he kicked an electric fan in air-headed anger. (You are correct: The twit did hit the fan.)" It didn't stop on the playing field either. The TV booth was fumigated of Steve Stone and Chip Caray. I am so amazed at the "cool aid drinkers" who actually thought these two morons brought baseball intelligence and dignity to televised games. The Cubs have a tradition, if in my opinion only, of employing screwball broadcasters, Jack Brickhouse, Harry Caray and these last two incompetant imitators of baseball play by play. Fortunately we didn't have to wait for age, death and retirement for me to pipe in the radio boys, Pat Hughes and Ron Santo to bring sanity to my air waves. The Cubs still need a proven reliever, but be relieved, the circus has left town!

Notre Dame.....Who Cares!

Growing up I learned to dislike Notre Dame. It seemed to me Notre Dame fans never went there and were White Sox fans too. Double irritating. As an adult and attending swim meets with my sons I found out first hand how arrogant everyone I met working at the facilities were. They acted so important as if, some how, they were doing "GOD's Work." And of course the sacrilege of "Touch Down Jesus" proclaiming Notre Dame football above all else. Yeah Right! In case you're not aware, I am talking about a mural of Jesus Christ on a building just outside of one end zone of the football stadium. With hands raised high above head and shoulder's, Notre Dame elite believe Jesus roots only for the Irish. BULL! Looking for Cubs news in the Chicago Tribune I ran across a story about Tyrone Willingham the new football coach at the University of Washington and most recent Notre Dame football casualty. The writer mentioned how Willingham received death threats from fans. Yes death threats to a football coach, even one with a winning record. Who the hell do Notre Dame fans think they are? I met another former Notre Dame football coach about 20+ years ago. His name, Jerry Faust, a legend in Ohio High School football. Jerry could not win at Notre Dame, on or off the field. I had just finished running a 10K race in South Bend and Mr. Faust came up to me and was as friendly as could be. We discussed running and the Cubs. He was a very, very nice gentlemen. Faust not only received death threats during his tenure, he had to move his family more than once. Attempts at burning his house down were also executed. Nice people, Notre Dame fans! Based on my experiences on the hallowed grounds in Notre Dame Indiana, maybe they were all drunk, certainly self-righteous!

Cubs GM Demonstrates Baseball A Team Sport

With the departures of Sammy Sosa, Keyle Farnsworth, Kent Mercker and Moises Alou, Jim Hendry, Chicago Cubs GM, has cleared out players who were involved in last year's biggest controversies, sending a message that repeat performances won't be tolerated. Farnsworth was placed on the disabled list last August when he hurt his knee kicking an electric fan after a poor outing against Houston. Despite a 100-m.p.h. fastball and a sharp slider, Farnsworth never got his act together in the majors. Whether he was kicking a fan, throwing a metal folding chair in the dugout in San Diego last May or falling asleep in the clubhouse during a 2002 game at Wrigley Field, Farnsworth's character always was a topic of debate. Farnworth's inconsistency, along with his bar-hopping, whether embellished or not, became issues. For years Cubs management privately wondered whether Farnsworth ever would make a serious commitment to his profession. My feelings are the same as for Sammy Sosa.....GOOD RIDDANCE!

Just When You Thought You Heard It All!!

TARANTO, Italy -- Mianne Bagger on Wednesday became the first transsexual golfer to qualify for the Ladies European Tour. The 37-year-old Dane shot a 5-over-par 77 to finish tied for ninth after four rounds in qualifying school at the Riva dei Tessali golf club. Bagger made history at the women's Australian Open last March, becoming the first transsexual to play in a pro golf tournament. The Ladies European Tour changed its rules earlier this year to eliminate the "female at birth" in its membership policy. The rule change put the golf tour in line with the International Olympic Committee regulations on transgender athletes. Is nothing sacred?

Attic Quote of The Day

"President Clinton's eight-year emphasis on short-term tactical politics -- focused on his own political survival -- left the party without any coherent intellectual foundation. With the advent of the Dean chairmanship, the Body Snatchers' takeover will be complete and the party of ideas will have been fully transformed to one of reflexive and strident opposition. Mr. Dean's passion and partisanship no doubt will deepen Democratic support in enclaves they already dominate. If you examine the 2004 electoral map closely, you will see that several states, including Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and New Jersey, voted for Mr. Kerry but could trend longer term toward the GOP. President Bush made gains over 2000 nationally among women, black, Latino and Catholic voters. If they cannot break free of Deanism -- i.e., strident opposition to all things Bush -- Democrats could find themselves by 2008 the party of Hollywood, Manhattan, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Al Sharpton, Michael Moore, George Soros and high-culture media -- but not of most Americans." How often do you use Amtrak? Over funded, under utilized, mismanaged, Washington D.C. Pork! Amtrak weighed in with an average subsidy of $186.35 per thousand passenger miles -- a sum that could take you across the country and back on JetBlue. That compares with average subsidies of $118.26 for urban transit and $6 for airlines. Highway users actually ended up paying Washington $1.91 per thousand passenger miles. Sleeping With Saddam

"The larger scandal is that Saddam was able to use every legitimate dollar of the program to reward friends and allies and undermine support for sanctions. The total value of contracts under Oil for Food was more than $100 billion -- or $64.2 billion in oil sales and $38.7 billion in humanitarian purchases. Subtract a few billion dollars the U.N. spent in Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq, and you have some $100 billion worth of business that Saddam was able to steer wherever he wanted. We doubt it's a coincidence, comrade, that Saddam directed so much of that money to Security Council members, including $22.5 billion to Russia and $7.3 billion to France. The links between this money and the two countries' positions on sanctions need to be explored. And we hope U.N. Undersecretary General Shashi Tharoor, who has sent us an ill-informed defense of the "$64 billion" program, will take note." Source: Wall Street Journal - Op Ed

Crab Cakes

Now that Baltimore will be cheering on a "Crab" named Sammy Sosa this baseball season another "Crab" has reared his ugly head in the political arena. Mayor Martin O'Malley likened the cuts in President Bush's budget proposal for urban areas to the Sept. 11 attacks, drawing fire from his fellow Democrats as well as Republicans. Oh, did I say "Crab"?????? This bobo crossed the line, in essence, calling President Bush a terrorist. Millions upon millions of dollars were poured into Baltimore as well as many seaside cities for purposes of Homeland Security as well as plenty of pork. "Back on September 11, terrorists attacked our metropolitan cores, two of America's great cities. They did that because they knew that was where they could do the most damage and weaken us the most," O'Malley said. "Years later, we are given a budget proposal by our commander in chief, the president of the United States. And with a budget ax, he is attacking America's cities. He is attacking our metropolitan core." Apparently this guy is a "rising star" in the Democratic Party. More like a shooting star wouldn't you say?

Why Do We Allow The U.N. To Handle Cash?????

The United Nations said governments have "only given a fraction of the money they pledged for tsunami aid" and warned that "more cash is needed to fund long-term reconstruction efforts." The U.N. warned only a portion of the cash has been handed out. In the next breath, more cash is needed. In related stories, alleged fraud exists everywhere. So the U.N. proposed more cash infusion. We now have Fraud-For-Tsunami.

Disbanding Saddam's Army Proves A Correct Move

It has become generally accepted wisdom that it was a mistake for the Coalition Provisional Authority to disband Saddam's army after American forces took Baghdad two years ago. Maj. Lechner, commanding a unit responsible for training and then leading the 7th Battalion of the new Iraqi army states, "retaining the old force would have just created a whole different set of problems, and might well have further set back efforts to create a flexible, effective Iraqi army. Solving the problem in the 7th Battalion ultimately required rooting out nearly all of those officers who had served under the old regime." The pundits and critics in Washington such as Senator Biden (D-Delaware) should wake up and quit criticizing the effort to train Iraqi soldiers. Senator's Reid (D-Nevada), Kennedy (D-Massachusetts) and Rep.Pelozi (D-California) should simply shut-up and quit undermining our troops!

Say What?

Benon Sevan, who was in charge of the $64 billion humanitarian program, was told Friday that they he been suspended with pay. Sevan's lawyer, Eric Lewis, accused Volcker's Independent Investigative Committee of trying to "scapegoat" the head of the program and said, "Mr. Sevan never took a penny." He said Sevan was proud of his 40-year U.N. career and of the oil-for-food program, the largest humanitarian relief operation in U.N. history, which saved tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis "from death by disease and starvation." Hmmmm........Seems to me hundreds of thousands of bodies in mass graves came from somewhere. If not death by disease and starvation then by torture and execution.

Going Postal

I'm a small business merchant and use the Postal System often. I have recently moved from a city of 250.000 to a much smaller town. Before that I spent years in Chicago. The transition is not always easy but one thing does remain consistent. Postal Workers are jerks!!! A generalization? Maybe. My sampling is based on using every Post Office in Fort Wayne Indiana and discovering the postal clerks are rude, arrogant and obnoxious. I started driving 7 miles to a smaller town where the people were borderline testy but "OK." Now residing in Small Town USA in Eastern Ohio, currently a Red State, I am in a Blue County. Grrrrrrrrrr. The postal clerks rotate out of a small postal unit and the cross training and lack of tact are apparent. When I drop packages there is always a wise crack, "joking" how my package is off in weight and playing this line so I wonder if I have a shipping problem or not. This is commercial mail, I am not joking nor am I immune to a little fun. When I purchase a money order one clerk insists on asking me if I purchased something on eBay. I would like to tell him, "Yes, I bought a bomb making book and some explosives." I would end up in hot Federal water with a statement like that, total untrue, but fitting into the dripping sarcasm at the Post Office. Yesterday I stood waiting for the clerk, who escapes his window, ignores the long line and begins sorting mail instead of helping customers. This tidy little postal unit only supports two windows. At the second window stands the clone of Barney Fife. This guy is a real wise ass! As he accepts a package from one customer a very elderly lady asks if they have tax forms. Holding the other customers package he responds, "Well they're not in this box." The poor lady looked stunned and confused. The clerk continued to berate her with a story on how the Post Office was not handling tax forms this year. He wasn't being professional or civil with this poor woman. He was being a belligerent ass! I informed the lady to try the main library for the forms. The clerk insisted she write to the IRS. Is this how the union protected government employee is trained to service paying customers? We worry about how captured terrorists are treated while we have fellow citizens working for the government terrorizing customers. Thank goodness the lady didn't have a question about Social Security as the union postal clerk has no idea what that is. After all, he has privatization accounts for retirement!

When Is Express Express or 10 or Less 10 or Less?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........I have long ago determined, in our "ME" world people are inconsiderate louts! Why, oh why do people insist on entering the Express Line in the grocery with a shopping cart overflowing with goods? Why does the grocery store tolerate inconvenience to other paying customers who know the meaning of "Express" and are mathematically knowledgeable to understand "Less than 10 items." Here goes: Less than 10 is between 1 item up to but not exceeding 10 items. Not 11, not 12, not 20. NOT...NOT...NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! According to my thesaurus Express is: Fast, Rapid, Direct, Non-Stop, Prompt! NOT SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Was that so difficult?

Not More Disgusting Than This!

While reading online news this morning I ran across the trial of the defrocked priest Paul Shanley. I believe in the rule of law and receiving a fair trial. Too many people get tried in the papers and on cable TV. This article was about the lack of publicity the trial is receiving but some very sick and telling evidence is mentioned. One quote from a Shanley supporter is this. Paul Shannon met him more than 30 years ago when Shannon was a Jesuit seminarian. Shannon, who attended every day of the trial, said he believes his friend is a victim of hysteria over the clergy sexual abuse scandal that erupted in Boston in January 2002 -- four months before Shanley was arrested in California."These notions that Paul Shanley would deliberately hurt kids ... that is simply preposterous for anybody who knows him," said Shannon, a librarian and teacher who lives in Boston. As you read on some very telling evidence against Shanley is this. Shanley became a focal point of the scandal after plaintiffs' attorneys forced the church to release internal records about him. Among the records were documents indicating that he was transferred from parish to parish after allegations surfaced, and that he had attended a forum with other people who later went on to form the North American Man-Boy Love Association, or NAMBLA. I did a search on NAMBLA and it is as sick as anything I have run across lately except maybe the torture of children by a couple from Florida/Utah. So Paul Shanley did, in fact, join NAMBLA. How can he justify this? HOW? And still proclaim his innocence? What was a Priest doing in a sick organization of predators chasing boys for sexual gratification in the name of love? A stint in open prison for the rest of his life should be sufficient punishment, unfortunately Mr. Shanley may enjoy the "lifestyle." If you visit the NAMBLA sight prepare yourself for a walk on the side of sickness. A permanent trip to hell for these predator priests is getting off too easy! Some time with Bubba in jail is more deserving.

Attic Quote of The Day!

In reference to former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski who wrote in the New York Times last March, "Democracy, impatiently imposed, can lead to unintended consequences. Any hatred of the U.S. in the region results from the Arab-Israeli dispute, and if we could only solve that problem Islamic radicalism would ebb. " Mr. Bush's second inaugural, and now his fifth State of the Union, show that he is turning this policy on its head. The lesson he has taken from September 11 is that bin Ladenism breeds in the dictatorships of the Middle East and the only real antidote is freedom. This is why the Iraq project isn't separate from, but is integral to, the larger war on terrorism."

Who fires Kofi Annan?

With Paul Volcker's initial reports about the U.N. Oil-For-Food program scandal Kofi Annan promises "prompt action in response to a highly critical investigative report about the troubled Oil-for-Food program." Kofi Annan is the Secretary General at the U.N. and ultimate responsibility for actions good or bad falls to him. As Harry Truman said, "the buck stops here." Kofi Annan needs to resign for any credibility to exist at the United Nations!

Absolutely Horrific!!

Yesterday I had FOX on TV and a report came about a manhunt in Florida referencing an abuse of children case. It was painful to hear the accounts of tortured children. This morning FOXNews reports the adults were captured in Utah. The accounts of the children are substantiated by physical signs including malnourishment. The story is here. Why can this happen anywhere, especially in America? Source: FoxNews

The New "KKK" in the Democratic Party

They don't wear hoods, they don't burn crosses, but they do lie, attempt to intimidate, and spin fear to the American people. Who are these ruthless people? They are obviously well known politicians.

KERRY, KENNEDY, KUCINICH
XXXX
Flip Flopping Kerry, Spewing Kennedy and now for some quotes for Mr. Kucinich.
XXXXXX
"Social Security isn't an investment program, it's an insurance program that's supposed to guarantee an income to those who have nothing else."
XXXXXX
First of all Dennis, insurance pays off when you die, social security does not. Second, it's not the governments responsibility to ensure retirement. Except of course your a Marxist so you don't understand capitalism.
XXXX
"What Bush is talking about is going to put people into poverty."
XXXXXX
Mr. Kucinich, keeping your own money for investment purposes and out of the hands of the government certainly won't cause poverty. It will empower working individuals to have a say where their money goes and socialists like you can't touch it.
XXXXX
The coffers of Social Security have no money only I.O.U's because politicians on both sides chose to "Rob Peter to Pay Paul." Filled with these "notes" Social Security is already bankrupt. How do these people get elected???

Don't Compare Sosa with Ernie Banks

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Now that Sammy Sosa has "officially" departed my beloved Chicago Cubs the articles are still pouring out. The one that sticks in my throat is asking if Sosa is the "Greatest Cub Ever." Not even close. The worst comparison is Sosa to Ernie Bank, forever "Mr. Cub." Ernie Banks never used cork in his bat, never used enhancements to enlarge is muscles, never put himself before the team, never needed his ego constantly stroked. Ernie Banks had the smile of smiles and the optimism that brought sunshine to the friendly confines even on cloudy days. Many other players who have worn Cubby Blue rank well above Sosa in many categories well beyond statistics. Baseball is still a team game, and the ballpark is not any one player's "house." Ernie Banks affectionately called Wrigley Field, "The Friendly Confines" and that moniker is atop the first base dugout. Ernie Banks did several things Sammy Sosa failed at. Ernie had a genuine, honest smile. Ernie was a team player. Ernie was always a fans player. Ernie recognized the game of baseball is bigger than anyone player. No athlete is the "Greatest Ever." Ernie Banks is and always will be Mr. Cub!

Attic Quote of The Day

"It was Sosa's breach of baseball etiquette -- bolting from a game, on the final day, no less -- that further confirmed what Cubs management and many of his own teammates already knew: that the self-proclaimed Gladiator had skin as thin as an ivy leaf, that he was a hypocrite and, worse yet, a liar."

Did We Need A Study To Figure This Out? DUH?

Study: Teens on Cell Phones Drive Like Old Ladies
XXXXXX
A report from the University of Utah says when motorists between 18 and 25 talk on cell phones, they drive like elderly people — moving and reacting more slowly and increasing their risk of accidents.
XXXX
Cmon Folks! Everyone talking on a cell phone and driving is dangerous on the road. It's not just teenagers, it's mini-van mom's, SUV daddy's and anyone chattering, sipping a beverage and generally unable to pay attention to controlling their vehicle. This took a study??? Give me a break!
XXXX
I had some idiot almost run me over while he blabbed incessantly on a cell phone. And we were walking inside Staples!

Money Well Spent

$16 million is alot of money. This is the cost of getting rid of the poison called, Sammy Sosa. Mr. Sosa thinks everyone owes him a living. His arrogance and stubborness has cost the Cubs more than anyone is willing to admit. I am tired hearing about how much he did for Chicago. Bunk! Anything Sammy did was for himself. Sosa was poison in the clubhouse and a few players have indirectly admitted it. From his boom box set at ridiculously high levels, his corked bat fiasco, to his walking out on players and fans the last game of 2004. The only thing Sammy didn't do was get caught with enhancements which may have been the reason for his huge numbers, huge increase in body proportions and subsequent shrinking down and nagging injuries. Another disturbing quote was by manager Dusty Baker who said Sammy was generous with his time with Baker's son, Darren. Listen folks and listen Baker. You put too much emphasis on your son, fans really don't care. In San Francisco your little darling was an annoying presence in the dugout and changed the rules of baseball on age limits on the field of play. Your little darling almost got run over in the playoffs because he was on the field during a play. Dusty, we really don't give a hoot about your son. It's about the game and you, Sammy and Darren are not about the game. When will you arrogant asses figure that out? So the Cubs had to pay dearly to unload Sammy. This Die-Hard Cub Fan won't miss you or your giant ego. I won't miss your incessant complaining for respect and I won't miss your strikeouts. I won't miss your attention seeking run out to right field before the game and I won't miss watching you stand 3 feet away from home plate. Sammy..........GOOD RIDDANCE!
