Kerry's Quagmire

Tennessee Senator Does Texas Two-Step

Senator Bill Frist speaking at the GOP Convention. Wednesday, September 1st, 2004: xxxx

"I'd like to touch briefly on stem cell research.Scientists work on two basic types of stem cell research. One is adult -- with cells taken, for example, from bone marrow or cartilage. Another uses cells taken from human embryos. Adult stem cell research has already led to cures. And both fields hold promise. But, contrary to the claims of some, embryonic stem cell research is still at a very early stage.John Kerry claims that the President has put a "sweeping ban" on stem cell research. I challenge Mr. Kerry tonight: what ban? Shame on you, Mr. Kerry. Under the President's policy, the federal government is funding both types of stem cell research at record levels. And the private sector remains free to fund and pursue any type of stem cell research. The President has also said that we should conduct this research with the highest moral and ethical standards. An embryo is biologically human. It deserves moral respect. This President will not use your taxpayer dollars to destroy human life or create human embryos solely for the purpose of experimentation."
xxx
Senator Bill Frist, as possible 2008 Presidential candidate, speaking on the Senate floor, Friday, July 29 2005:
xxxx
"It's not just a matter of faith, it's a matter of science. While human embryonic stem cell research is still at a very early stage, the limitation put into place in 2001 will, over time, slow our ability to bring potential new treatments for certain diseases. Therefore, I believe the president's policy should be modified. We should expand federal funding ... and current guidelines governing stem cell research, carefully and thoughtfully, staying within ethical bounds."
xxxx
Shame on Mr. Kerry? The Attic has no formal stance on the science or research of embryonic stem cells, we don't condone Federal funding until science can prove it's validity. The large companies are not funding this research. However, we could only hope the politicians, Doctors or otherwise, would not straddle the fence on such important issues and could decide what is more important, the truth, or political ambitions.

WANTED FOR CORRUPTION!!!!

In a move that amused some and worried others, the Cook County Republican Party announced yesterday a $10,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the indictment and conviction of Chicago’s Mayor Daley for political corruption. Writing in the Chicago Tribune, Jim Walsh reports that Gary Sokien, the Cook County GOP chairman said in a statement: “The arrogance of Richard Daley is appalling...The corruption (in Chicago) is so pervasive, so extensive and has been going on so long that most of these insiders don’t even have a clue that their actions are illegal. We hope that this reward will inspire someone with critical knowledge to come forward.” Robert Klein Engler, an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University in Chicago writes, “What’s new? Isn’t this business as usual? If you live here, then you know what’s going on. In Chicago, to get ahead it’s not what you know but who you know. There is a culture of 'who do you know' politics that radiates from city hall, and for too long has been the trademark of city government. Richard M. Daley epitomizes the 'who do you know' culture of Chicago." Like the mayor's father said, "Vote and Vote Often!" In Chicago, it's patronage that counts! The Democrat's kinda town, where more dead people vote than anywhere in the U.S.A.

Does Chuck Schumer Know His Job?

Asked why Judge Roberts, who was approved for the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in 2003 by unanimous consent, would run into trouble now, Senator Schumer (D-NY) pointed out that “the Supreme Court is far different from the Court of Appeals.” “The Supreme Court makes law. We hope they [make law] it by interpreting precedent and following the legislature,” Mr. Schumer said. A very puzzling statement coming from a man who, as a member of the U.S. Senate, is constitutionally charged with making law. The Supreme Court is there to interpret it. Would someone please get Schumer a job description and explain it to him!?

Kerry Missing In Action...Again!

Senator John Kerry still has trouble making it to work, even with the August recess less than a week away. Kerry is back in town, but while he was away, the Massachusetts Democrat, who has strongly criticized President Bush for failings of public diplomacy, skipped a confirmation hearing for Karen Hughes — nominated to become the undersecretary of state for public diplomacy. The haughty Liberal Senator, who claims to have served in Vietnam, was in Paris watching Lance Armstrong go after his seventh Tour-de-France victory.

Howard Dean's Rhetoric Dodges the Facts!

Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean has denounced last month's Supreme Court ruling on eminent domain as a product of "The president and his right-wing Supreme Court." In fact, not one of the justices on the Supreme Court was appointed by President Bush. And the most conservative justices — William Rehnquist, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas — dissented on that ruling. Dean, speaking to College Democrats, also accused Republicans of "bringing a culture of corruption to Washington," saying, "they've sold our government to the highest bidder." The Attic thought the Democrats wanted to sell the government to the Unions! And....Culture of corruption? Thought we got past that when Bill Clinton and Al Gore left office.

Attic Knaves of The Day!

Birth certificates are supposed to establish identity and parentage. In Massachusetts, the only state in the union where same-sex marriage is legal, gay rights advocates want the words "Mother" and "Father" removed from birth certificates, and put in their place the terms "Parent A" and "Parent B." "There should be no doubt in Massachusetts that Massachusetts records should accurately reflect the true nature of Massachusetts families and that includes same-sex couples" xxxxx

"I'm opposed to taking the Massachusetts birth certificate and removing the term 'Mother' and 'Father' and substituting 'Parent A' and 'Parent B,' Look, each child has a mother and a father. Time To Indict Joe Wilson and Wife Ms. Plame???

Outed CIA spy Valerie Plame last fall gave a campaign contribution to go toward an anti-Bush fund-raising concert starring Bruce Springsteen, it was revealed Tuesday night. It's the first revelation that Plame participated in anti-Bush political activity while working for the CIA. The Federal Election Commission record lists her occupation as "retired" even though she's still a CIA staffer. Under employer it says: "N.A." Federal rules require a political-action committee to ask all donors to list their employers. You don't have to provide it, but if you do, you shouldn't provide false information on those forms — like saying you're retired if you're not," said Larry Noble of the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics. And A Pig in the Poke!

A Kenyan official has attempted to win the hand of Bill Clinton's daughter by offering him 40 goats and 20 cows. Chelsea Clinton was offered the animals as a traditional African dowry by Godwin Kipkemoi Chepkurgor who wrote to the former president via Kenya's foreign affairs minister. The love struck electrical engineering graduate said: "Had I succeeded in wooing Chelsea, I would have had a grand wedding. "I would have invited Archbishop Desmond Tutu to preside at the ceremony." He added that he would be willing to travel to the US to meet Chelsea and her family and was looking forward to meeting Hillary Clinton, who he admired for standing by her man through the Monica Lewinksy scandal "like an African woman". The man also gave the names of former Kenyan president Daniel Arap Moi and two of his college buddies as character references. Chelsea is reported to have been flattered by the offer. To sweeten the deal the Kenyon should have offered a pig to take Hillary off of our hands. This could have been part of a free trade agreement, receiving one pig for another. Democrats and Free Trade!

House Democrats view on fair trade: "CAFTA is an absolute failure on every count," said Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif. "We have learned from 10 years of failed NAFTA policies and we cannot go back and repeat those mistakes." "We know the truth — that the promises of CAFTA are just empty rhetoric," said Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill. "CAFTA supporters have resorted to toothless side deals and strong-arm tactics because they know this agreement cannot pass on its merits," said Rep. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. Now for some economic facts on NAFTA:

  • In Nafta's first decade, annual two-way trade between the U.S. and Mexico almost tripled, to $232 billion from $81 billion.
  • During that same period the U.S. created 18 million net new jobs.
  • Even after the dot-com implosion and the recession of 2001, the current U.S. jobless rate of 5% is lower than it was (6.4%) when Nafta became law. U.S. productivity and wages have all climbed steadily.
  • The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) reported last week that, since the birth of Nafta, U.S. exports to Canada and Mexico have grown 55% faster than they have to the rest of the world, while imports from Mexico and Canada have only grown 20% faster.
The vast majority of Cafta-made products already enter the U.S. duty-free under the Caribbean Basin Initiative. Cafta opens the way for more U.S. products going south. The agreement also boosts intellectual property protection in Cafta countries, as well as competition in financial and other services in which the U.S. excels. American farmers alone expect to increase exports to Central America by some $1.5 billion a year. Of course the Dem's are being extorted by labor (See Union's Open Letter Below) who want a protectionist labor front to end free trade and competition so the American consumer may continued to be bilked on consumer goods. Unions Extort House Democrats!

The Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) is due for a vote today and the Democrats are being threatened by labor unions. Below is what reads like an extortion letter from union leaders to Dem's in Congress: July 25, 2005 Honorable Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader Honorable Steny H. Hoyer, House Minority Whip Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Chairman, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Honorable Mike Thompson, Chairman, DCCC Frontline Dear Representatives Pelosi, Hoyer, Emanuel and Thompson, The American labor movement has been one of the Democratic Party’s most consistent and stalwart supporters. Every election cycle, the party depends upon labor for money, manpower and expertise. And every election cycle labor delivers. This week, Congress will vote on the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), an issue that all of labor vehemently opposes. Regrettably, several Democrats will vote to support CAFTA. We recognize that the party and House Democrats are not homogeneous, that every member has a right to vote his or her conscience on all issues, including CAFTA. But this letter is to make it clear that we find it both objectionable and unacceptable that Leadership and the DCCC are pushing the Federation and individual affiliates to support vulnerable incumbents -- the so-called “Frontline Candidates,” and some of these members are poised to desert labor on this core issue. To do our part, a number of unions proudly hosted an event last week for the Frontline Candidates. Several General Presidents and dozens of union staff gathered for an afternoon of skeet and trap shooting and raised almost $300,000 for the Frontline. This week, three of those members who benefited from labor’s substantial support, Melissa Bean (IL), Jim Matheson (UT) and Dennis Moore (KS), are either undecided on how they will vote on CAFTA or are leaning in the direction of supporting it. We expect that House Democratic Leadership will convey very strongly to all wavering Democrats, and particularly to Frontline Candidates, that voting for CAFTA against our strong, clear, and loud objections, would signal to the labor movement that those Frontline Candidates do not want our support. Our work to help elect at-risk members, at your urging, will not extend to those who vote against us on this issue. As such, we hope that you will also convey to them that we believe those who receive our support have an obligation to vote with us on CAFTA. Further, we ask that the DCCC remove from Frontline status any member who votes wrong on CAFTA. Simply put, there must be real and measurable consequences for opposing labor on this issue. The stakes are too high for the workers of America. We cannot and we will not give any Democrat a pass on CAFTA. Finally, while we appreciate your individual and collective efforts in opposing CAFTA, we are disheartened that a decision was made not to formally engage the whip operation in defeating this bad legislation. That decision has led us to grudgingly admire the majority for their resolute commitment to rewarding their core constituencies on seminal issues. Unfortunately, it seems that, at times, the Democratic Party fails to recognize its obligation to stand united with its allies when we need you most. Partnership is a two way street. Respectfully, Harold A. Schaitberger, General President International Association of Fire Fighters Gerald McEntee, President American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Edward McElroy, President American Federation of Teachers Edward C. Back By Unpopular Demand!

Actress and activist Jane Fonda says she intends to take a cross-country bus tour to call for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq. "I have not taken a stand on any war since Vietnam," she said. "I carry a lot of baggage from that." If she's so unhappy why not take her baggage to Vietnam? Fonda incited controversy in July 1972 when she was photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun while on a tour of the country to drum up support to end the war. (See Photo Below) Fonda said her anti-war tour in March would use a bus that runs on "vegetable oil." Families of Iraq war veterans and her daughter will join her. Government Left Hand Looking for Right Hand

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Robert C. Bonner said Wednesday in an interview with the Associated Press that he was looking into using U.S. citizens to help with the battle against illegal immigration in the form of a border patrol auxiliary. This was countered the next day when the Department of Homeland Security issued a statement that “the job of patrolling the borders should continue to be done by the highly trained, professional law enforcement officials of the border patrol and its partner agencies.” Nice to know who's protecting the borders. Or do we?

Kerry: Release Records On Roberts

WASHINGTON — Democratic Sen. John Kerry urged the White House on Friday to release "in their entirety" all documents and memos from Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' tenure in two Republican administrations.

"We cannot do our duty if either Judge Roberts or the Bush administration hides elements of his professional record," said the haughty, French looking Massachusetts senator, who was his party's presidential candidate last year. Kerry also claims to have "served" in Vietnam.

Isn't this request simply remarkable, coming from someone who promised to sign off on Form 180, to release in it's entirety, his military records. To date the entire military records of John F. Kerry have not been revealed. When is Kerry going to take responsibility for coming clean without lying to the American people? What is Kerry hiding?

Oops! That Had to Hurt!

KABUL: Four suspected Taliban militants were killed in southern Afghanistan early yesterday when a bomb they were attempting to plant on a highway exploded, a provincial governor said. “Four Taliban who were trying to plant a remote-controlled bomb in the Langar area, by the side of the highway en route to Tirin Kot, blew themselves up,” Uruzgan governor Jan Mohamed said. “Police discovered the bodies along with four Kalashnikovs,” he said. Anti-American Mayor Changes Philosophy

LONDON (AFP) - London Mayor Ken Livingstone said a shoot-to-kill policy was "overwhelmingly" the way to deal with suspected suicide bombers after police shot a man dead on the subway. "If you are dealing with someone who might be a suicide bomber, if they remain conscious they could trigger plastic explosives or whatever device is on them," Livingstone said.

"Therefore overwhelmingly in these circumstances it is going to be a shoot-to-kill policy."

This coming from the anti-American, anti-Tony Blair, anti-War on Terror, anti-War in Iraq, Mayor? After all, he blames all of this on George W. Bush and American policy on fighting the war on terror. Oh, of course until terror hits the streets of London, then philosophies change. How convenient!

Attic Quote of The Day!

"What is really so urgent that it cannot wait several hours to discuss with whomever? Have we become so beholden to our personal technology devices that we can't enjoy a few hours of peace on an airplane flight, actually engage in a personal conversation with the individual next to us, or perhaps sleep, or, better yet, read a book? If we Americans are so smart, why are we behaving like fools? Think about it: Our technological capabilities are tremendously vast and continue to constantly expand in scope. This is a mixed blessing. It proves that we live in a country abundant with opportunity. It proves that we are a curious and intelligent country. It also proves that what we Americans love most about our homeland is exactly what terrorists desire fervently to destroy. Do you really need to make that airplane cellphone call now? Do you really need to talk in your car on the way to, from and at your place of business? Do each of your children really need a cellphone of his/her own all under the auspices of being able to reach you at any given point in time? The cellphone has unfortunately become a way of life for all of us, myself included, but stop for a couple of minutes and . . . take a walk with your child, smell the flowers, feel the cool breeze, listen to the tree frogs late at night, gaze at the stars. make sure you leave your cellphone at home." xxxx

Are the U.S. Critics All Over This?

Europeans and Liberals denounce the U.S. death penalty, our involvement in Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, and Abu Ghraib, but now we have a European country and ally (with exception to the London Mayor and certain members of Parliament) shooting a suspect on sight.
xxx
The Attic is not personally denouncing this action but we find it intriguing that the current policy of kill now, ask questions later, is used on a continent so filled with "tolerance." When the shoe is on a different foot it seems the actions against an "enemy" seem to take on new relevancy. Now, cold blooded killing is OK, but when a U.S. Military member shoots a captive suspected of being armed with explosives, the MSM is all over the soldier, and U.S. Defense Department.
As reported, LONDON — Police on Friday shot and killed a man believed to be one of the people responsible for attempted bombings in the city just a day earlier. Sky News reporter Martin Brunt at Scotland Yard said police were telling him unofficially that the man shot was a "firm suspect" in Thursday's unsuccessful bombing attempts.
xxx
That news network later reported that there were no explosives found on the man. The man, described by passengers as South Asian, was shot was wearing a thick coat when he ran into the Stockwell subway station in south London Friday. Police reportedly began following the man when he left his home in an effort to arrest him. It's believed he may have been the suspect who put the bomb down in the Oval Street Underground station a day before.
We suppose the Europeans simply needed a wake-up call to get with the anti-terrorist program. Of course the BBC prefers to call these terrorists by the politically correct name, "bombers." Hmmmm....seems dead is dead now!

Attic Knave of The Day!

London Mayor Ken Livingstone, who recently voiced support for a radical Islamic sheikh known as the "Theologian of Terror,” now blames the West for the terror attacks in his city. "I suspect the real problem was that we funded these people as long as they were killing Russians. We gave no thought to the fact that when they stopped killing Russians they might start killing us." The Mayor goes on to say... "Given that the Palestinians don't have jet fighters and don't have tanks, they only have their bodies to use as weapons. In that unfair balance, that is what people use." If anymore bombings occur in London, the Mayor might like to find blame in a mirror.

Already Gnashing Their Teeth

The Liberal obstructionists are already chomping at the bit and gnashing their teeth over Supreme Court nominee Judge Roberts. Vermont's Sen. Patrick Leahy, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said after the announcement that "it's going to take a fair amount of time" to hold hearings. Well this does give Mr. Leahy something to whine about publicly. New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, also on the committee, said he would push Judge Roberts to answer detailed questions about his views on issues, and that, lacking concrete answers, he might try to "block the nomination." Schumer has become as pathetic as anyone in the Senate. "The burden is on a nominee to the Supreme Court to prove that he is worthy, not on the Senate to prove he is unworthy." This coming from someone as unworthy for office as anyone. Could Schumer find a real job? We doubt it. "Who knows about this guy?" asks Senator Tom Harkin (D., Iowa). Sorry Senator, we suppose you'll have to earn your pay and find out! "I look forward to the Committee's findings so that I can make an informed decision about whether Judge Roberts is truly a guardian of the rule of law who puts fairness and justice before ideology." states Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D., N.Y.). That's rich. Hilliary discussing "rule of law." "The president had an opportunity to unite the country with his Supreme Court nomination, to nominate an individual in the image of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Instead, by putting forward John Roberts' name, President Bush has chosen a more controversial nominee and guaranteed a more controversial confirmation process," said Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. Gee I don't feel "ununited." Maybe the Senator is discussing his outrageous claims about Gitmo on the senate floor and the fact he feels for the "enemy combatants" more than the safety of the homeland. My, we haven't heard from Teddy Kennedy yet. That should be really good, but he was undoubtedly busy taking inventory of his liquor cabinet, of course, while slurping up it's contents. Let's examine the votes for Judge Roberts for the DC Court of Appeals in 2003. The Judiciary Committee voted 16-3 to send Judge Roberts to the Senate floor for a vote. Confirmed by the Senate without a roll call vote. The Nay's? Kennedy, Durbin and Schumer! What a surprise.

Knaves of The Day!!

~ACLU: The American Civil Liberties Union has found a sympathetic ear for its latest assault against the Boy Scouts. At issue is the famous Jamboree, held since 1981 at Fort A. P. Hill in Virginia and indirectly receiving support from the Army in billeting, infrastructure, and so forth. The ACLU argues that this arrangement breaches the First Amendment's separation between church and state. Because the Scouts require members to "privately exercise their religious faith as directed by their families and religious advisors," the ACLU petitioned the court to declare the organization "theistic" and "pervasively sectarian." ~Federal Judge Blanche Manning: Manning ruled the Boy Scouts an overtly religious association because it "excludes atheists and agnostics from membership." She ordered the Army to expel the next Jamboree from Fort A. P. Hill in 2010, by which time we trust the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals will have overturned her decision. ------------------- As the Wall Street Journal so aptly states: "If Her Honor paid a visit, she'd learn that the 40,000 young men aren't gathering for a tent revival meeting or Great Awakening. Mostly, they're getting together to cultivate an appreciation for the outdoors and to participate in the rites of summer camp. The Scouts will celebrate what they call their 'bedrock values,' which, yes, include faith, but also patriotism, courage, service, conservation and civic virtue." Attic Side Note: We would hope Ms. Manning's misguided ruling has nothing to do with her gender, and finds the Boy Scouts of America unappealing since they don't allow the female gender membership either!

Attic Quote of The Day!

"Every conflict in history has seen its share of rumor, propaganda and misinformation. The 'yellow journalism' that helped launch the Spanish-American War and the infamous radio broadcasts of "Tokyo Rose" during World War II come to mind. But the information technology of the 21st century has made waging an ideological global struggle against extremism particularly complex. Decision makers, the media and the public at large will need to come to terms with the effect of these new realities. The old adage that 'A lie can be half-way around the world before truth has its boots on' becomes doubly true with today's technology."

Donald Rumsfeld
U.S. Secretary of Defense

Desperate Dems and Joe Wilson

While Democrats wait for the August recess from Washington they continue to do absolutely nothing to advance any legislature. Republicans, of course, haven't faired much better. The Maine liberals, er uh, Republicans are sweating over the next Supreme Court nominee, they don't want to confront their liberal friends on the other side of the isle. Has anyone thought about Social Security, health-care, a bill to protect transportation and chemical plants from terrorist attacks? And....are terrorists or other illegal aliens still streaming over our borders? Haven't seen much on this since we're either in Aruba or watching liberal press conferences. Instead the Democrats spend all their free time, and they seem to have plenty of it, attacking Karl Rove. Someone on the left is exploring an "impeachment" if it's possible. These elected clowns don't even have a case yet they are attempting to make a one which isn't there. Democrats are simply doing what they do best, play attack dog, collect paychecks and perks. These liberals can't even side with the MSM liberal thugs when they report cirmcumstances that show Mr. Rove has done nothing wrong. Let's examine the printed media. The AP, New York Times, Washington Post: Rove "originally learned about the operative [Plame] from the news media and not government sources, according to a person briefed on the testimony." Rove was the second source for Bob Novak's column identifying Plame's role in arranging Wilson's trip to Niger according to the NY Times. After hearing Mr. Novak's account, the person who has been briefed on the matter said, Mr. Rove told the columnist: "I heard that, too." The first source, whose identity has not been revealed, provided the outlines of the story and was described by Mr. Novak as "no partisan gunslinger." Mr. Novak wrote that when he called a second official for confirmation, the source said, "Oh, you know about it." That second source was Mr. Rove. If this account is accurate, then Rove simply confirmed a fact that was already in circulation. He no more "outed" Plame than Wilson did when he peddled his "outing" allegation to various left-wing journalists after Novak's column ran, states Opinion Journal. In an interview with CNN, Joe Wilson says, "My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity." This statement alone gets Rove off the hook yet Mr. Wilson and Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) hold a combined press conference asking for Karl Rove to be dismissed. An important fact the Democrats and press wish to ignore is this. Joe Wilson was, in fact, lying when he said Iraq never attempted to purchase uranium from Niger. This fact was in the 9/11 Commission Report. And if Wilson was the operative who went to Niger to investigate this, Wilson's wife is guilty of nepotism. While Wilson and his wife do interviews with Vanity Fair and the talk show circuit they continue to make absurd and false allegations against Karl Rove. They want all the attention to promote Wilson's book while Democrats waste taxpayer dollars chasing their tails in the summer heat.

French Still Pretending

No other Western democracy puts so much military hardware on show as the French. While those hyperpuissant Americans and their army may now rule the world, the heavy stuff tends to stay out of public view in the post-draft and even post-9/11 era. On the Fourth of July, the U.S. Marine Corps Band marks the extent of most Americans' contact with their soldiers. The Gallic taste for militarism, even if only for show, may be compensation for their current weakness or nostalgia for the imagined past. Considering the string of French military losses in the 20th century, it's almost quaint, except that the images of Bastille Day don't exactly square with the efforts of France's leaders to present their country as leading a pacifist vanguard in the world. Few people will forget then-Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin's lectures to America about avoiding war at any cost a few years back. Then again, it might strike outsiders as equally strange that the French would glorify -- Mr. de Villepin's favorite word being "gloire" -- a failed revolution that ended up bringing to power a war-mongering fascist, Napoleon Bonaparte -- who happens to be the current prime minister's favorite figure in history. Or perhaps the French merely like their irony extra rich. Happy Bastille Day.

Attic Knave of The Day!

"The President's chief adviser acted in a reckless and cavalier fashion, ignoring national security interests to score a political point against a policy foe. Rove may end up not guilty of a crime, but he is guilty of significant misconduct. This ought to get him sent back to Texas."

~David Corn
The Nation

Attic Note: Mr. Corn couldn't lead a whore to bed let alone lead us to believe Karl Rove should be fired. Liberals like Corn are simply agitated over being spanked in elections by the "architect" of their demise.

Attic Quote of The Day!

"Democrats and most of the Beltway press corps are baying for Karl Rove's head over his role in exposing a case of CIA nepotism involving Joe Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame. On the contrary, we'd say the White House political guru deserves a prize -- perhaps the next iteration of the "Truth-Telling" award that The Nation magazine bestowed upon Mr. Wilson before the Senate Intelligence Committee exposed him as a fraud."

Is This The Best Hillary Can Do?

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton went on the attack against President Bush' in a speech Sunday, accusing him of damaging the economy by overspending while giving tax cuts to the rich. The Democrat from New York also accused Bush of depriving U.S. soldiers of equipment needed to fight the war in and cutting funding for scientific research. "I sometimes feel that Alfred E. Neuman is in charge in Washington," Clinton said referring to the freckle-faced Mad magazine character. She drew a laugh from crowd when she described Bush's attitude toward tough issues with Neuman's catchphrase: "What, me worry?" She said the middle class is now being threatened by an ailing economy caused by the growing national debt, growing health care costs, the loss of pensions and the loss of manufacturing diversity. Clinton also said the U.S. needs to focus on exploring alternative energy sources to become less reliant on oil. Hmmm....lets see now....

  • Navy Seal's are getting killed looking for a man President Clinton refused to capture when Mr. Bin Laden was offered up free of charge.
  • It is well documented the Clinton's despised the military. Hillary wanted the military ordered to not wear uniforms while in the White House.
  • The Clinton administration cleaned up unemployment and the deficit so well they had military families on food stamps.
  • The Bush administration had the oval office painted, curtains and carpet changed because of stains from Bill Clinton escapades.
  • The previous President is guilty of perjury, he lied to the American people as well as the justice system on national television.
  • The previous President was impeached and lost his law license in Arkansas.
  • The previous "first couple" are carpetbaggers in the best southern traditions.
  • Hillary may have been involved in a cover-up concerning an administration members suicide.
  • al-Qaeda multiplied like rabbits and trained in Afghanistan and Iraq under the Clinton watch.
  • Hubby Clinton let fighter jet pilots sit in their planes waiting for orders to bomb a known Bin-Laden hideout while Uncle Bill would not be interrupted watching a golf match.
  • Visiting troops in Iraq, classless Hillary went to the head of the mess line, failing to properly observe protocol that our military gets fed first.

Who is socialist Hillary kidding here? The Attic list about Hillbillary will grow. Stay tuned for more "Smashmouth Hillary" from the Attic!

Attic Knave of The Day!

"If you go on bombing other people they will go on bombing us. People in Iraq and London are paying a blood price and doesn’t believe Mr. Blair or Mr. Bush are capable of solving this problem — I believe they are the cause of this problem."

We "Barely" Noticed!

A dozen anti-war activists from Mendocino County took their tops off at high noon in San Francisco's Union Square shopping district Thursday, using what they said was their best weapon to get the public's attention. "Boobies never hurt anyone," said Sherry Glaser, size 40DDD. "After more than two years of opposition to the war, protesters are having a hard time grabbing headlines. We're kinda at our wits' end, so it's come to this. But it blows me away that all we have to do is bare our skin and we can cause such a snit." said Sheba Love, size 40D. "Technically, nudity can be considered misdemeanor indecent exposure if the person in their birthday suit has an intention to titillate. Because the protest is political, not sensual or lewd, it really doesn't count, And it doesn't fall into the category of public nuisance, because it lacks an annoying quality, like the guy who was doing naked yoga at Fisherman's Wharf near a children's school bus stop," said San Francisco police Sgt. Carl T. xxxxx And the name of this group, "Breasts Not Bombs." xxxxx Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Attic Quote of The Day!

"It is offensive to suggest that a potential justice of the Supreme Court must pass some presumed test of judicial philosophy. It is even more offensive to suggest that a potential justice must pass the litmus test of any single-issue interest group. The disturbing tactics of division and distortion and discrimination practiced by the extremists of the new right have no place in these hearings and no place in the nation's democracy." xxxx
