Liberal Rhetoric on Iraq A Losing Proposition

Attempting to score political points liberals manage to "support the troops" and demean their presence in Iraq. Liberals are soft on terror, no matter how they feel about port security, and weak-kneed when it comes to defending the American homeland.
John Murtha (D-PA.) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA.), have demanded timetables for the rapid withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, arguing that the Bush administration would keep U.S. troops in Iraq indefinitely. The idea behind these demands is that only external pressure will force the administration to hand Iraq over to the Iraqis and to withdraw American soldiers. Murtha claimed that his pressure had changed administration policy in this regard, by driving the Pentagon to announce plans for rapid cuts in troop strength in Iraq. We hate to burst Mr. Murtha's bubble but his rhetoric doesn't set policy for the Pentagon, it only makes him look inept and foolish by making such claims.
Neither Murtha or Pelosi have any military expertise. Murtha is a Vietnam Veteran and served in the reserves for years, this does not qualify him to assert qualifications on warfare. Pelosi is nothing more than a left-wing ideologue who prefers to slander the military, while pretending to know something about military strategy.
Politicians never miss an opportunity to expound that the war in Iraq is a diversion from the war on terror. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi trained soldiers under the aegis of the Taliban alongside al Qaeda fighters and then moved into Iraq before the U.S. attack. Al Qaeda's second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has repeatedly said that he now sees Iraq as the central front in the struggle with the West.
When liberals insist the war in Iraq is meaningless they only play into the hands of al Qaeda and weaken American military presence in Iraq. U.S. politicians on the left become players on the side of terrorism and embolden the terrorists into more suicide bombings, and killing coalition forces.
Democracies aren't grown quickly like a potted plant in a greenhouse. Promising a country liberation with a "cut and run" option won't solidify a developing government democratically established and won't embolden its citizens to accept less. When politicians discuss impeaching a President without material fact, they should stop using false statements and politcal rhetoric to impeach our soldiers on the ground and our military leaders.
