Offended by Terrorism or a Cartoon?

So the much of the Muslim world is angry (an understatement) because of cartoons like the one presented here. Anger and disgust are plausible reactions but the level of violence taking place around the world is one more mark against Islam.

Some non-radicals are attempting to defuse the violence but it's too little to late. When the twin towers in New York went down in flames all bets were off. A bully who picks a fight is usually no more than a gutless creature who will run and hide at the first sign of a threat to themselves.

Terrorists including the new government in Palestine hide behind weapons and masks. They lack the intestinal fortitude to use diplomatic and peaceful solutions to problems. Terrorists want whole populations "wiped off the map" as their final solution for hatred and religions that don't follow their script.

The cartoon above was drawn because the terrorists kill innocent women, children and others in the name of Islam. Terrorists provided the talking points for the cartoons they call blasphemy. Their reaction is more terror.

Iran is preparing to make nuclear weapons, not as a defensive measure but to remove Israel from the Middle East. Iranian Mullah's want to annihilate an entire culture in the name of their religion, Islam. These "men of religion" want total destruction of the western world in the name of Islam.

The Washington Post printed a cartoon of a quadruple amputee for political purposes and no one was killed or threatened over the disgusting caricature of a horribly wounded U.S. soldier. However, our military personnel are in harms way because of terrorist fighting in the name of Islam.

It's worth taking note of those in the Muslim world who have shown some perspective. "Who insults Islam more," asks Jordanian editor Jihad al-Momani. "A foreigner who draws the prophet or a Muslim with an explosive killing himself at a wedding in Amman or anywhere else?" Mr. Momani lost his job at the weekly newspaper Shihan for republishing three of the offending cartoons.

In Lebanon, Prime Minister Fouad Sinoria has apologized to the Danish government, accepted the resignation of his interior minister for failing to protect the consulates, and said, "The prophet Mohammed cannot be defended in this way."

In Iraq, Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani, the country's leading Shiite cleric, condemned the cartoons' publication as a "horrific action." But he aimed most of his fire at those "misguided and oppressive" Muslims; i.e., terrorists and their fellow travelers, who "have exploited this to spread their poison and revive their old hatreds with new methods." It was they, he said, and not the cartoonists, who were chiefly to blame for "[projecting] a distorted and dark image of the faith of justice, love and brotherhood."

Let these violent reactions to a cartoon be a lesson to soft Europeans, some who have witnessed recent terrorist activities on their own soil. Radical Islam envisions the world with tunnel vision, it's their culture or you're dead! Many newspapers and politicians are still seeking diplomacy with this ilk. Jimmy Carter wants the world including the American taxpayer to continue funding Palestine and now Hamas, a known and admitted terrorist organization.

Liberals including "Republican" Arlen Spector are condemning President Bush for eavesdropping on al Qaeda because they want more congressional power. Ted Kennedy, Diane Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, Patrick Leahy, Russ Feingold are all calling George W. Bush a "liar" but they fail to condemn terrorists. They "support" our troops but don't support a necessary war they helped sponsor. These Senators condemn a President upholding his Constitutional responsibility to protect against foreign enemies but respond with soft rhetoric to a cartoon and retrieval of intelligence.

The American "angry left" is not tolerant of our President but very tolerant of the ideals of terrorist organizations. They scream of unfair elections, and a war designed to protect us from an enemy who has attacked us at home with plans for more. The left blames George W. Bush for beheadings, military casualties, and calls the United States occupiers not liberators.

Muslims depict anti-Semitic cartoons in their newspapers, burn foreign embassy's, churches, flags, and kill the innocent. They kill non-Muslims who are in the Middle East helping the poor and sick. They kill contractors who are working to rebuild infrastructure and schools. Have we forgotten Margaret Hassan, the director of CARE in Iraq, who was kidnapped, killed and left on the side of the road? Where was the outcry from the Muslim world? How soon we forget.

American Democracy provides a forum to protest but also condemns violence as a means to an end. Religions and people of faith should condemn the Muslim world for not putting a stop to the hate and violence, the open murder of innocent people in the name of Islam. Muslim Clerics should call for the closure of schools that brainwash their children and teach them murdering "non-believers" is the way to solve grievances.

You're angry with the cartoon? Look in the mirror and help clean up the problem promoted by your silence and tolerance for terrorists. Free speech and press allows printing political cartoons, we don't have to like them but we tolerate them with formidable discussions not murder.
