Walrus - reading John Adams by McCulloch. Also just started White Guilt by Shelby Steele. Will keep you posted. Maybe I'll do book reviews.

Walrus - have another post. Please let me know if it is too over the top. White Guilt is good book but as expected white folks (and this time black leaders) are responsible for group identity of blacks and for the exploitation of whites to the further destress of the "black community" - why? Because white liberals entered into "appeasement" to regain their moral authority after they admitted racism (why do we think only white people can be racists?) thus affirmative action and billions of dollars. Really good section on Maureen Dowd and her op-eds. Steele takes no prisoners. Not as pithy as Wesley Pruden but good.

Liberals are on a permanent guilt trip over slavery and use this to appease the black voters.

NAACP and the likes of Julian Bond and Jesse Jackson use racism to their advantage with their constituency while keeping black people in the fold and down. Many black leaders can only succeed and keep their wealth if they successfully exploit poor blacks and encourage them in ways that will keep them poor.

And then blame whites and primarily white Republicans. Why are black leaders like Bond and Jackson and the Democratic leaderships racist towards Lt. Gov. Steele and Sec. State Blackwell?

They fear black leadership who can empower blacks to become educated and to do well. This works against filling the coffers of black leaders who live off this money and the Democratic party who fears losing a part of their base.
